Effects of blue light exposure on ocular parameters and choroidal blood perfusion in Guinea pig
CONCLUSION: Exposure to blue-light appears to have the potential to improve ChBP and ChT, thereby inhibiting the development of myopia.we speculate that blue-light inhibits the development of myopia for reasons other than longitudinal chromatic aberration (LCA).However,long-term exposure to blue-light may have adverse effects on ocular development. The next step is to investigate in depth the mechanisms by which the rational use of blue light regulates choroidal blood flow, offering new hope for the treatment of myopia.PMID:37633324 | DOI:10.1016/j.exer.2023.109619

Mesenchymal stem cells differentiate to retinal ganglion-like cells in rat glaucoma model induced by polystyrene microspheres
CONCLUSION: Intravitreally transplanted rBM-MSCs differentiated into retinal cells, including ganglion-like cells, which successfully created a glaucoma model damaged with polystyrene microspheres. Promisingly, MSCs may have a role in neuro-protection and neuro-regeneration treatment of glaucoma in the future.PMID:37633122 | DOI:10.1016/j.tice.2023.102199

Analysis of the Macular Region Following Panretinal Photocoagulation for the Treatment of Diabetic Retinopathy Using Optical Coherence Tomography
CONCLUSIONS: PRP emerges as a highly valuable approach in the management of DR. It contributes to retinal thickness improvement within the macular region and inflammation reduction, and also enhances therapeutic outcomes, minimizes adverse reactions, and optimizes patients' quality of life. These findings warrant further clinical adoption and widespread promotion.PMID:37632956

Metabolic changes and retinal remodeling in Heterozygous CRX mutant cats (CRX < sup > RDY/+ < /sup > )
This study investigated retinal remodeling that occurs as photoreceptors degenerate. CRXRdy/+ cats from 6 weeks to 10 years of age were investigated. In vivo structural changes of retinas were analyzed by fundus examination, confocal scanning laser ophthalmoscopy and spectral domain optical coherence tomography. Histologic analyses including immunohistochemistry for computational molecular phenotyping with macromolecules and small molecules. Affected cats had a cone-led photoreceptor degeneration starting in the area centralis. Initially there was preservation of inner retinal cells such as bipolar, amacrine and horizontal...

Modeling subcellular specificity in the developing retina
Res Sq. 2023 Aug 8:rs.3.rs-3214285. doi: 10.21203/rs.3.rs-3214285/v1. Preprint.ABSTRACTThe precise wiring of the nervous system relies on neurons extending their processes at the right time and place to find their appropriate synaptic partner. The mechanisms that determine when and where neurons extend their neurites during synaptogenesis remains a central question in the field. In the present study, we developed a cell culture system coupled with live imaging to investigate the wiring mechanisms in the developing nervous system. We focused on horizontal cells which are interneurons in the mammalian outer retina known to s...
