Duplex ultrasound for surveillance of lower limb revascularisation
CONCLUSIONS: Based on low certainty evidence, we found no clear difference between DUS and standard surveillance in preventing limb amputation, morbidity, and mortality after lower limb revascularisation. We found no studies on DUS surveillance after angioplasty or stenting (or both), only studies on bypass grafting. High-quality RCTs should be performed to better inform the best medical surveillance of lower limb revascularisation that may reduce the burden of peripheral arterial disease.PMID:37470266 | PMC:PMC10357487 | DOI:10.1002/14651858.CD013852.pub2

Mammography in combination with breast ultrasonography versus mammography for breast cancer screening in women at average risk
CONCLUSIONS: Based on one study in women at average risk of breast cancer, ultrasonography in addition to mammography leads to more screening-detected breast cancer cases. For women with dense breasts, cohort studies more in line with real-life clinical practice confirmed this finding, whilst cohort studies for women with non-dense breasts showed no statistically significant difference between the two screening interventions. However, the number of false-positive results and biopsy rates were higher in women receiving additional ultrasonography for breast cancer screening. None of the included studies analysed whether the ...

Maternal postures for fetal malposition in labour for improving the health of mothers and their infants
CONCLUSIONS: We found low- and very low-certainty evidence which indicated that the use of hands and knees posture or lateral postures in women in labour with a fetal malposition may have little or no effect on health outcomes of the mother or her infant. If a woman finds the use of hands and knees or lateral postures in labour comfortable there is no reason why they should not choose to use them. Further research is needed on the use of hands and knees and lateral postures for women with a malposition in labour. Trials should include further assessment of semi-prone postures, same-side-as-fetus lateral postures with or wi...

Tall cell variant papillary thyroid carcinoma impacts disease-free survival at the 10 % cut-point on multivariate analysis
CONCLUSION: TCV-PTC is significantly associated with larger tumors and a greater degree of ETE. The diagnosis of TCV-PTC significantly impacts DFS at the 10 % cut-point on multivariate analysis.PMID:35834884 | DOI:10.1016/j.prp.2022.154012

Evaluation of nutritional status and related factors in children with cystic fibrosis
CONCLUSIONS: The malnutrition rates of CF patients were higher than the rates previously reported in literature. As there are insufficient nutritional data in Turkey, there is a need for multi-centre studies to determine the frequency of malnutrition according to the new classifications. It is clear that QUS measurements cannot replace DXA in the diagnosis of osteopenic bone disease. However, when low values are determined with QUS as the first recommended measurement in the screening of bone status, it can be considered appropriate to confirm the status with DXA.PMID:35611416 | DOI:10.24953/turkjped.2021.415
