Risk of retinal vein occlusion in colorectal cancer patients receiving anti-vascular endothelial growth factors - a population-based cohort study
CONCLUSION: Our results indicated no association between use of anti-VEGF and occurrence of RVO among CRC patients, although the crude incidence rate of RVO was higher in patients receiving anti-VEGF, compared to control patients. Future study with larger sample size is required to confirm our findings.PMID:37316803 | DOI:10.1186/s12885-023-11037-4

The health care and societal costs of inherited retinal diseases in Australia: a microsimulation modelling study
CONCLUSION: As the societal costs associated with IRDs are much larger than the health care costs, both contributors should be considered when assessing the cost-effectiveness of interventions for people with IRDs. The increasing loss of income across life reflects the impact of IRDs on employment and career opportunities.PMID:37301731 | DOI:10.5694/mja2.51997

A 12-year nationwide cohort study on the association between central retinal artery occlusion and cancer
CONCLUSION: The risk of cancer occurrence was increased in patients with CRAO. The results supported that CRAO could be attributed to one of the consequences of arterial thrombosis in cancer patients.PMID:36749440 | DOI:10.1007/s00417-023-05984-8

Addition of fenofibrate to statins is associated with risk reduction of diabetic retinopathy progression in patients with type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome: a propensity-matched cohort study
CONCLUSION: The addition of fenofibrate to statins was associated with significantly lower risk of diabetic retinopathy progression than statin therapy alone in patients with type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome.PMID:36720383 | DOI:10.1016/j.diabet.2023.101428

Association between Retinal Vein Occlusion and Psoriasis in Korea: A Nationwide Population-based Prospective Cohort Study
This study aimed to investigate the association between psoriasis and retinal vein occlusion in the Korean population. Data collected by the National Health Insurance Service between 2009 and 2015 in Korea were analysed. Participants who underwent national health examinations from 2009 to 2012 were enrolled in this study and were divided into either the psoriasis group (n = 3,088) or the control group (n = 465,205). All occurrences of retinal vein occlusion were observed, and the incidence rate of retinal vein occlusion was compared between the psoriasis and control groups. A Cox proportional hazards regression analysis wa...
