Traumatic sigmoid colon rupture due to breast cancer metastasis: a case report
Clin J Gastroenterol. 2023 Sep 21. doi: 10.1007/s12328-023-01859-x. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe metastasis of breast cancer to the gastrointestinal tract is rare. Herein, we presented the case of an 85-year-old woman who had a history of invasive lobular carcinoma and experienced complete colon rupture due to relatively low-energy trauma. The patient underwent bilateral total mastectomy and axillary dissection following preoperative chemotherapy 6 years ago. She had a local recurrence 2 years after the surgery and underwent chemotherapy. Subsequently, the cancer metastasized to the thoracolumbar area and retroperiton...

Nipple-Sparing Mastectomies in Patients over the Age of 60 Years: Factors Associated with Surgical Outcomes
CONCLUSIONS: Our data support NSM in patients over the age of 60 years with acceptable outcomes within the standard of care. Locoregional recurrence was within the cited range of 0-5%, and only diabetes and prior radiation were associated with reconstructive complications. NSM should thus be offered when appropriate regardless of increased age to achieve oncologic and reconstructive goals.PMID:37700172 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-14278-6

De-escalation of Post-mastectomy Irradiation in Hormone Receptor-Positive Breast Cancer with One to Three Positive Nodes
CONCLUSIONS: In our cohort of patients with one to three positive nodes and a RS ≤ 25, omission of post-mastectomy radiation therapy had no impact on OS. Our results suggest that RS may be utilized in the individualized decision making on PMRT.PMID:37679538 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-14155-2

Topoisomerase II α immunoexpression in feline mammary carcinomas: A correlation with Ki67 immunoexpression and the mitotic count
Res Vet Sci. 2023 Aug 24;164:104992. doi: 10.1016/j.rvsc.2023.104992. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe aim of the study was to compare the immunohistochemical expression of topoisomerase IIα protein (Topo IIα) with Ki67 expression and mitotic count in feline mammary carcinomas (FMCs). Topo IIα is considered as a proliferation indicator as well as a molecular target of anthracycline chemotherapy. The studied material included 70 FMCs from female cats treated with mastectomy. Primary mouse monoclonal antibodies directed against Topo IIα and Ki67 were used in immunohistochemical reactions. The number of mitotic figures w...

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma with synchronous breast metastasis: A case report
CONCLUSION: This case report suggests that breast specialists should carefully rule out secondary breast cancers when diagnosing and treating breast masses. Furthermore, clinicians should aim to identify the pathological type of the tumor to obtain the most accurate diagnosis and prevent excessive diagnosis and treatment.PMID:37637694 | PMC:PMC10450366 | DOI:10.12998/wjcc.v11.i23.5573
