Monitoring Adverse Effects of Radiation Therapy in Patients With Head and Neck Cancer: The FACT-HN-RAD Patient-Reported Outcome Measure
CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: The 8-item FACT-HN-RAD measure captures the most common patient- and physician-reported AEs related to RT for HNSCC. This measure offers a means to serially monitor patient-reported treatment-related AEs and recovery over time in both clinical and research settings. Future work will evaluate the psychometric validity of the measure.PMID:37589994 | DOI:10.1001/jamaoto.2023.2177

Photobiomodulation During Chemoradiation for Head and Neck Cancer: Effect on Mucositis, Weight Loss, and Feeding Tube Dependence
CONCLUSIONS: PBM may have a role in decreasing complications related to RT and CRT for HNC, mainly mucositis severity.PMID:37213482 | PMC:PMC10196275 | DOI:10.1016/j.adro.2023.101216

Quality of weight loss during chemoradioherapy in patients with nasopharyngeal cancers
CONCLUSION: The results of our study show that weight loss during CCR for NPC is complex and is not just about loss but about a disruption of body composition. Regular follow-ups by nutritionists are required to prevent denutrition during treatment.PMID:37095056 | DOI:10.1016/j.canrad.2022.12.001

External beam radiotherapy for thyroid cancer: Patients, complications, and survival
CONCLUSIONS: EBRT was most frequently administered for locoregional control in thyroid cancer. Despite complications, the majority of patients completed EBRT therapy.PMID:36707300 | DOI:10.1016/j.amjsurg.2023.01.009

Effect of Radiotherapy Alone vs Radiotherapy With Concurrent Chemoradiotherapy on Survival Without Disease Relapse in Patients With Low-risk Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma: A Randomized Clinical Trial
CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: Among patients with low-risk NPC, treatment with IMRT alone resulted in 3-year failure-free survival that was not inferior to concurrent chemoradiotherapy.TRIAL REGISTRATION: ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT02633202.PMID:35997729 | DOI:10.1001/jama.2022.13997

Role of stereotactic body radiation in the enhancement of the quality of life in locally advanced pancreatic adenocarcinoma: a systematic review
CONCLUSION: SBRT of locally advanced irresectable pancreatic cancer is a promising approach for achieving local control and improving the quality of life. However, randomized controlled trials with larger cohorts are needed to assess the value of SBRT in pancreatic cancer therapy.PMID:35715808 | DOI:10.1186/s13014-022-02076-5
