Punctate inner choroidopathy in common variable immunodeficiency associated with a pathogenic variant in the tumour necrosis factor receptor superfamily 13b (TNFRSF13B) gene - Case report and review of the literature
CONCLUSION: Autoimmunity may be the dominant clinical presenting feature of CVID. Punctuate inner choroidopathy is an idiopathic inflammatory chorioretinopathy, and to the best of our knowledge, has not been previously reported in CVID. A better understanding of the molecular bases of autoimmune diseases in CVID may provide novel therapeutic targets for autoimmune diseases in this patient population.PMID:37652172 | DOI:10.1016/j.clim.2023.109748

Ocular involvement-An unusual initial presentation of chronic myeloid leukemia: A case report
We describe a case of a 29-year-old male who presented in our ophthalmology out-patient department (OPD) with complaints of painless, diminution of vision, which was sudden in onset in right eye (RE) and loss of vision in left eye (LE) for four and seven days, respectively. There had been a history of loss of weight and appetite for the past 2 months. The visual acuity (VA) recorded was finger counting two meters in RE and perception of light in LE with an inaccurate projection of rays in both eyes (BE). The anterior segment evaluation of both eyes (BE) was normal. Fundus revealed multiple elevated yellow subretinal lesion...

The Vienna idiopathic intracranial hypertension database-An Austrian registry
CONCLUSION: The large representative Vienna IIH cohort characterizes IIH-related symptoms, diagnostic findings, treatment, and outcome emphasizing substantial long-term sequelae of IIH. Future analyses will aim to refine phenotyping and identify factors predicting outcome.PMID:37650963 | DOI:10.1007/s00508-023-02252-x

Fundus autofluorescence of retinal atrophy progression between fundus flavimaculatus and extensive macular atrophy with pseudo-drusen
CONCLUSION: The progression of the atrophy in eyes with Extensive Macular Atrophy with Pseudo-drusen (EMAP) is significantly more rapid than in eyes with Fundus Flavimaculatus (FFM).PMID:37649340 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231199635

The contribution of indocyanine green angiography in a case of unilateral retinal pigment epithelium dysgenesis
CONCLUSION: URPED is an extremely rare clinical entity with only a few cases reported. In this case the almost pathognomonic differential features of URPED were best appreciated with ICGA imaging. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of URPED with these abnormal findings on ICGA meaning it could be part of the spectrum of the disease.PMID:37649336 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231199337

Epiretinal membrane formation and optic disc vascularisation in type 2A macular telangiectasia (MacTel)
CONCLUSION: In type 2A MacTel eyes, ERM formation and abnormal disc vascularisation are uncommon findings. More histopathologic research is needed to characterise these membranes.PMID:37644815 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231198888

Intercellular communication atlas reveals Oprm1 as a neuroprotective factor for retinal ganglion cells
Res Sq. 2023 Aug 17:rs.3.rs-3193738. doi: 10.21203/rs.3.rs-3193738/v1. Preprint.ABSTRACTThe progressive death of mature neurons often results in neurodegenerative diseases. While the previous studies have mostly focused on identifying intrinsic mechanisms controlling neuronal survival, the extracellular environment also plays a critical role in regulating cell viability. Here we explore how intercellular communication contributes to the survival of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) following the optic nerve crush (ONC). Although the direct effect of the ONC is restricted to the RGCs, we observed transcriptomic responses in oth...
