Body Anthropometrics and Rectal Temperature Cooling Rates in Women With Hyperthermia
CONCLUSIONS: Body anthropometrics did not affect CWI Trec cooling rates in women with hyperthermia. Clinicians need not worry about anthropometric characteristics slowing the treatment of severe hyperthermia in women using CWI.PMID:35230443 | DOI:10.4085/1062-6050-225-20

Predictive Equations Overestimate Resting Metabolic Rate in Chronic Stroke Survivors
CONCLUSION: RMR predictive equations established in healthy adults are not appropriate for the chronic stroke population, indicating the need to measure RMR until a more accurate predictive equation is developed. This could support modifications to nutritional intake guidelines in patients with conditions of muscle atrophy. If measurement of RMR is not feasible, the Katch-McArdle equation should be used to estimate RMR in a stroke patient, as, on average, it provides the lowest percentage overestimate compared to other equations.PMID:35192798 | DOI:10.1016/j.apmr.2022.01.155

Rationale and design of the Brazilian Diabetes Study: a prospective cohort of type 2 diabetes
CONCLUSION: The BDS will be the first large population-based cohort dedicated to the identification of clinical phenotypes of T2D at higher risk of cardiovascular events. Data derived from this study will provide valuable information on risk estimation and prevention of cardiovascular and other diabetes-related events.PMID:35174749 | DOI:10.1080/03007995.2022.2043658

Bone mineral density and risk of cardiovascular disease in men and women: the HUNT study
AbstractThe association between bone mineral density (BMD) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) is not fully understood. We evaluated BMD as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease and specifically atrial fibrillation (AF), acute myocardial infarction (AMI), ischemic (IS) and hemorrhagic stroke (HS) and heart failure (HF) in men and women. This prospective population cohort utilized data on 22 857 adults from the second and third surveys of the HUNT Study in Norway free from CVD at baseline. BMD was measured using single and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry in the non-dominant distal forearm and T-score was calculated. Hazard...
