Potential Applications of Remote Limb Ischemic Conditioning for Chronic Cerebral Circulation Insufficiency
Conclusion Due to its long-term and often invisible course, CCCI has received less attention than acute cerebral ischemic stroke. However, without appropriate intervention, CCCI may lead to a variety of adverse events. Because the pathophysiological changes associated with CCCI are complex, pharmacological research in this area has been disappointing. Recent research suggests that RLIC, which is less invasive and more well-tolerated than drug treatment, can activate endogenous protective mechanisms during CCCI. In the present report, we reviewed studies related to CCCI (Table 1), as well as those related to stroke and sta...

Prevention of neointimal hyperplasia induced by an endovascular stent via intravenous infusion of mesenchymal stem cells.
CONCLUSIONS: Intravenous infusion of MSCs inhibited the inflammatory reaction to an implanted stent strut, and prevented progressive neointimal hyperplasia in the stented CCA and SCA in a porcine model. Thus, MSC treatment could attenuate the recurrence of cerebral ischemic events after stenting. PMID: 31585431 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Medical prevention and treatment of radiation-induced carotid injury.
Abstract Radiotherapy has significantly improved the survival of cancer patients but is also associated with several adversities, including radiation-induced carotid injury (RICI). The RICI mechanisms are complex, including vessel inflammatory injury, carotid atherosclerosis, intimal proliferation, media necrosis, and peri-adventitial fibrosis. The main manifestation and adverse consequence of RICI is carotid artery stenosis (CAS), which can lead to stroke and transient ischemic attack. Currently, carotid artery injury is primarily diagnosed via color-coded duplex sonography. Early detection of traumatic changes i...
