CHADS2 scores as a predictor of ischemic stroke after radical prostatectomy
This study assesses the predictive value of CHADS2 scores and CCIS for stroke among patients with prostate cancer. The study was conducted based on data taken from Taiwan's National Health Insurance Research Database (NHIRD). We identified a total of 5414 participants with nonatrial fibrillation (AF) prostate cancer diagnoses who underwent radical prostatectomy between 1997 and 2011. Circulating long-chain n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid and incidence of stroke: a meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies.
CONCLUSIONS: Circulating LC n-3 PUFAs were linearly associated with reduced risk of stroke, especially 22:5n-3 and 22:6n-3. Such findings highlight the importance of circulating LC n-3 PUFA in the development of ischemic stroke.

Ischemic stroke in patients with POEMS syndrome: a case report and comprehensive analysis of literature.
Conclusion: Comprehensive analysis of literature revealed several trends in patients with ischemic stroke and POEMS syndrome including a low survival rate and a preponderance of cerebral vasculopathy and multiple cerebral arteries affected. Ischemic stroke may be a poor outcome predictor in patients with POEMS syndrome. Further researches focusing on a larger cohort may help in better characterizing and treating this rare complication of POEMS syndrome.

Accelerated Risk of Premature Ischemic Stroke in 5-Year Survivors of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma.
CONCLUSION: Not only was the stroke risk in NPC survivors higher than that in the general population, but the onset age was also 10 years earlier. Future survivorship care should include ischemic stroke as a late complication, for its proper prevention and management.

Association of physical activity with stroke among long-term colorectal cancer survivors
ConclusionsModerate frequency of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (5-9 time/week) and walking (4-5 time/week) significantly lowers the risk of stroke, whereas high-frequency physical activity reduces the benefits of physical activity.Implications for Cancer SurvivorsPhysical activity with moderate frequency is important in the prevention of stroke for long-term colorectal cancer survivors.

Implementation of transcranial Doppler ultrasonography screening and primary stroke prevention in urban and rural sickle cell disease populations
ConclusionsWe report here data describing primary stroke prophylaxis in rural patients. SOC rates are similar between the two clinical settings. While implementation of primary stroke prevention in rural patients was difficult, rural TCD screening is feasible and can achieve SOC equal to that in an urban setting. Risk of ischemic stroke after androgen deprivation therapy for prostate cancer in the Chinese population living in Hong Kong
Conclusions
There was increased risk of ischemic stroke after androgen deprivation therapy for prostate cancer in the Chinese population. The risk of ischemic stroke should be considered while deciding on androgen deprivation therapy, especially in older patients with known history of hyperlipidemia.

Influenza vaccination might reduce the risk of ischemic stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation: A population-based cohort study.
Conclusions: Influenza vaccination might exert a dose-response effect against ischemic stroke in patients with AF who have risk factors for ischemic stroke by reducing the incidence of ischemic stroke, particularly in those aged 65-74 and ≥75 y.

Dietary cholesterol intake and stroke risk: a meta-analysis.
Conclusions: Higher cholesterol intake has no association with the overall stroke risk. Age and body mass index affect the relationship between dietary cholesterol intake and stroke risk. However, the association between higher dietary cholesterol and stroke risk in males remains unclear.
