Miliary tuberculosis mimicking COVID-19 multisystemic inflammatory syndrome in children
We present the case of a 6-year-old girl with no remarkable history who had recurrent fever for 3 months. She was initially diagnosed with, and treated for, refractory multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C). When the study was extended to other differential diagnoses, thoraco-abdominopelvic computed tomography revealed miliary pulmonary nodules in addition to lymph nodes and spleen lesions. Magnetic resonance imaging of the brain revealed multiple tuberculomas. The tuberculin test results were positive. The course of the disease was favorable under quadruple therapy.PMID:37704522 | DOI:10.1016/j.arcped.2023.08.003

Application of combined anterior and posterior approaches for the treatment of cervical tuberculosis with anterior cervical abscess formation and kyphosis using a Jackson operating table: a case report and literature review
CONCLUSIONS: This case suggests that Jackson table-assisted anterior-posterior lesion removal and bone graft fusion can safely and effectively treat cervical tuberculosis with a large anterior cervical abscess combined with cervical kyphosis, providing a foundation for future efforts to treat spinal tuberculosis.PMID:37140294 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202304_32115

Symptomatic atrial fibrillation revealing chronic constrictive pericarditis in a young patient: A case report with a review of the literature
We present a patient with symptomatic atrial fibrillation revealing chronic constrictive pericardis. He underwent to drug cardioversion before radical pericardiectomy and to date has made a good recovery without palpitations with a sinus rythm. The diagnosis of CP is often neglected by physicians, who usually attribute the symptoms to another disease process. This case show the difficulty in diagnosing, illustrated as well as the role of multimodality imaging and the excellent outcome of pericardiectomy for total recovery.PMID:37060873 | DOI:10.1016/j.ancard.2023.101594

Acute Retropharyngeal and Parapharyngeal Abscesses: A Case Series
CONCLUSION: We have found an increase in the incidence of these infections in recent years. Computed tomography is the best imaging examination for the diagnosis and follow-up of retropharyngeal and parapharyngeal abscess. Early drainage and antimicrobial therapy are essential for rapid recovery and prevention of complications of these abscesses.PMID:37019663 | DOI:10.1177/01455613231169232

Granulomatous prostatitis after bacille Calmette-Gu érin instillation resembles prostate carcinoma: A case report and review of the literature
CONCLUSION: Temporarily elevated PSA and high followed by low signal abnormality on diffusion-weighted MRI are important indicators of BCG-induced granulomatous prostatitis.PMID:36998956 | PMC:PMC10044953 | DOI:10.12998/wjcc.v11.i9.2051

Case Report: Cranial Tuberculosis in a Patient without Tuberculosis Foci Elsewhere in the Body
Am J Trop Med Hyg. 2023 Mar 13:tpmd220646. doi: 10.4269/ajtmh.22-0646. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCranial tuberculosis is a relatively infrequent inflammatory reaction caused by tuberculous bacilli invading the skull. Most cases of cranial tuberculosis are secondary to tuberculosis foci in other parts of the body; primary cranial tuberculosis is extremely rare. Herein, we report a case of primary cranial tuberculosis. A 50-year-old man presented to our hospital with a mass in the right frontotemporal region. Chest computed tomography and abdominal ultrasonography findings were normal. Magnetic resonance imaging of the b...
