Commentary: Does Covid-19 vaccination disturb menstrual cycling?
This study, of 364,856 participants from UK Biobank, aimed to evaluate the associations between total and source-specific partial DF and risk of 17 specific cancers and all cancers combined. Partial DF was derived from baseline touch-screen questionnaire data on cereal, bread, fruit and vegetable intake. The outcomes were incident cancer at 17 sites and all cancers combined. Cox proportional hazard models were applied. Over a median 8.8-year follow-up period, 30,725 people were diagnosed with cancer. After adjusting for sociodemographic and lifestyle factors, those in the highest quintile of DF compared to the lowest quint...

Multi-level quality improvement strategies to optimize HPV vaccination starting at the 9-year well child visit: Success stories from two private pediatric clinics
Hum Vaccin Immunother. 2023 Feb 16:2163807. doi: 10.1080/21645515.2022.2163807. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHPV vaccination rates remain far below goal, leaving many adolescents unprotected against future HPV-related cancers. Starting HPV vaccine at age 9 may improve timely preteen vaccination. The "HPV Vax at 9" Quality Improvement intervention paired HPV vaccination with 9- and 10-year well child visits and was piloted at two pediatric clinics (n = 9 sites) in Washington between 2018 and 2022. Supporting interventions included standardized immunization schedule posters in exam rooms, electronic medical record supports,...

Gyrolab Immunoassays: Miniaturization, Automation, and Integration into a Rapid Workflow
Methods Mol Biol. 2023;2612:109-127. doi: 10.1007/978-1-0716-2903-1_9.ABSTRACTGyrolab® is an open immunoassay platform that automates the complete immunoassay protocol in a microfluidic disc. The column profiles generated with Gyrolab immunoassays are used to gain more information about biomolecular interactions that can be useful in assay development or quantify analytes in samples. Gyrolab immunoassays can be used to cover a broad concentration range and diversity of matrices in applications ranging from biomarker monitoring, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics studies, to bioprocess development in many areas, includi...

Determinants of humoral immune response to SARS-CoV-2 vaccines in solid cancer patients: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Cytotoxic therapy for solid cancer may portend poor immune response following 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccines suggesting a need for booster doses in these patients. Immunotherapy and targeted therapy are likely to be associated with seropositive status, and thus can be considered as an alternative to cytotoxic agents in cases where both therapies are equally efficacious.PMID:36792435 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2023.01.072

No association of malignant B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas with ipsilateral SARS-CoV-2 vaccination
CONCLUSIONS: Together, we found no evidence that the current SARS-CoV-2 vaccines could serve as a trigger for lymphomagenesis in the draining lymph node areas of the deltoid region used for vaccination.PMID:36775947 | DOI:10.1002/cam4.5687

Behavioral and Social Drivers of COVID-19 Vaccination in the United States, August-November 2021
CONCLUSIONS: This nationally representative survey found that COVID-19 vaccine uptake was most strongly associated with greater anticipated regret, risk perception, and confidence in vaccine safety and importance, followed by vaccination requirements and social norms. Interventions that leverage these social and behavioral drivers of vaccination have the potential to increase COVID-19 vaccine uptake and could be considered for other vaccine introductions.PMID:36775756 | DOI:10.1016/j.amepre.2023.01.014

A qualitative study of behavioral and social drivers of COVID-19 vaccine confidence and uptake among unvaccinated Americans in the US April-May 2021
DISCUSSION: Vaccine confidence communication strategies should address individual concerns, describe the benefits of COVID-19 vaccination, and highlight evolving science using factural and neutral presentations of information to foster trust.PMID:36763680 | DOI:10.1371/journal.pone.0281497

Cancer and COVID-19 vaccines on Twitter: The voice and vaccine attitude of cancer community
J Health Commun. 2023 Feb 8:1-14. doi: 10.1080/10810730.2023.2168800. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWe investigate social media discourses on the relationship between cancer and COVID-19 vaccines focusing on the key textual topics, themes reflecting the voice of cancer community, authors who contribute to the discourse, and valence toward vaccines. We analyzed 6,427 tweets about cancer and COVID-19 vaccines, posted from when vaccines were approved in the U.S. (December 2020) to the February 2022. We mixed quantitative text mining, manual coding and statistical analysis, and inductive qualitative thematic analysis. Nearly 1...

SARS-CoV-2 antibody response after BBIBP-CorV (Sinopharm) vaccination in cancer patients: A case-control study
CONCLUSION: Full vaccination of COVID-19 by BBIBP-CorV in immunocompromised patients such as cancer patients is safe and effective and could induce antibody response but in lower levels compared to healthy people. Probable causes to have minor antibody response found in males, older ages, individuals with BMI ≥ 25, those without past history of COVID-19 and with hematologic cancers. No significant side effects after vaccination were seen.PMID:36743671 | PMC:PMC9893850 | DOI:10.3389/fmed.2022.1095194
