Research for Cytomegalovirus Mutations Associated With Resistance to Antivirals in Kidney Transplant Receptors
Cell Transplant. 2023 Jan-Dec;32:9636897231195245. doi: 10.1177/09636897231195245.ABSTRACTCytomegalovirus (CMV) mutations associated with antiviral resistance have become a major problem related to high mortality in kidney transplant patients. The aim of the study was to investigate mutations in the CMV genes UL97 and UL54 associated with antiviral resistance. A retrospective observational cohort study was carried out at Hospital Ophir Loyola (HOL), a reference in Kidney Transplantation. A total of 81 patients who underwent kidney transplantation were followed up between 2016 and 2018 were monitored for CMV viral load by p...

Prediction of herpes virus infections after solid organ transplantation: a prospective study of immune function
CONCLUSION: In conclusion, the incidence of positive herpes virus PCR tests was high, and a risk model including immune function allowed the prediction of positive herpes virus PCR and may be used to identify recipients at higher risk.PMID:37465673 | PMC:PMC10351284 | DOI:10.3389/fimmu.2023.1183703

Investigating the relationship between the number and activity of natural killer cells with increased cytomegalovirus and CMV disease after kidney transplantation
We examined the association of the relationship between the number and activity of natural killer cells with increased cytomegalovirus and its related disease after kidney transplantation.MATERIAL AND METHODS: In this analytical study, 58 new transplant patients in the Labbafinejad Hospital, who did not have any evidence of CMV infection, were evaluated based on the number and percentage of CD56+/16+, CD56+/16-, and CD69+ Natural Killer (NK) cells.RESULTS: The results of this study showed that CD16+ and CD56+ cells in the group of CMV Ag-positive patients are less than negative patients (p = 0.003) and the difference betwe...

Avascular Necrosis in Renal Transplant Patients
CONCLUSIONS: We found that avascular necrosis appears most frequently in the first 2 years after kidney transplant and the most important risk factors are cumulative steroid dose and cytomegalovirus disease. In the follow-up of kidney transplant patients, it is important to use low-dose steroid doses if possible. Of note, preventing the development of cytomegalovirus disease by screening and prophylaxis for cytomegalovirus is also important in reducing the development of avascular necrosis.PMID:37074005 | DOI:10.6002/ect.2022.0345
