Impact of COVID-19 pandemic lockdown on occupational therapy practice and use of telerehabilitation - A cross sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: The COVID-19 pandemic lockdown experiences made us rethink the current approach of therapy services into alternative method (mixed mode) delivery of occupational therapy practice, which is including the combined method of video-based (telerehabilitation) consultation and face to face intervention.PMID:34002837 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202105_25845

Purine metabolite-based machine learning models for risk prediction, prognosis, and diagnosis of coronary artery disease
Biomed Pharmacother. 2021 Jul;139:111621. doi: 10.1016/j.biopha.2021.111621. Epub 2021 May 10.ABSTRACTAlterations in xanthine oxidase activity are known to be pathologically influential on coronary artery disease (CAD), but the association between purine-related blood metabolites and CAD has only been partially elucidated. We performed global metabolomics profiling and network analysis on blood samples from the Wonju and Pyeongchang (WP) cohort study (n = 2055) to elucidate the importance of purine related metabolites associated with potential CAD risk. Then, 5 selected serum metabolites were quantified from the WP cohort,...

Effects of Naodesheng tablets on amyloid beta-induced dysfunction: A traditional Chinese herbal formula with novel therapeutic potential in Alzheimer's disease revealed by systems pharmacology
In conclusion, this is the first study to provide a comprehensive systems pharmacology approach to elucidate the potential therapeutic mechanism of NDS tablets for AD treatment. We suggest that the protective effects of NDS in neurodegenerative conditions could be partly attributed to its role in improving synaptic plasticity and inhibiting neuroinflammation via NF-κB signaling pathway inhibition and cAMP/PKA/CREB signaling pathway activation.PMID:34328103 | DOI:10.1016/j.biopha.2021.111916

A review on the neuroprotective effect of berberine against chemotherapy-induced cognitive impairment
Curr Drug Targets. 2022 Mar 3. doi: 10.2174/1389450123666220303094752. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTChemobrain is one of the major side effects of chemotherapy, despite increased research, the mechanisms underlying chemotherapy-induced cognitive changes remain unknown. Though, several possibly important candidate mechanisms have been identified and will be studied further in the future. Chemobrain is characterized by memory loss, cognitive impairment, difficulty in language, concentration, acceleration, and learning. The major characteristic of chemobrain is oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, immune dysregulatio...

Specific signature biomarkers highlight the potential mechanisms of circulating neutrophils in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage
Conclusion: We identified core regulatory genes influencing the transcription profiles of circulating neutrophils after the rupture of intracranial aneurysms using bioinformatics analysis and machine learning algorithms. This study provides new insight into the mechanism of peripheral immune response and inflammation after aSAH.
