Intraoperative blood product transfusion in pediatric cardiac surgery patients: a retrospective review of adverse outcomes
CONCLUSIONS: Transfusion of blood products following cardiopulmonary bypass is associated with postoperative adverse outcomes. Future studies aimed at strategies to reduce intraoperative bleeding and decrease the amount of blood products administered are warranted.PMID:36695635 | DOI:10.1111/pan.14637

Effect of remimazolam on the incidence of delirium after transcatheter aortic valve implantation under general anesthesia: a retrospective exploratory study
ConclusionRemimazolam may benefit TF-TAVI in terms of postoperative delirium; however, its usefulness must be further evaluated in extensive prospective studies.

Tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion to predict arterial hypotension caused by general anesthesia induction
CONCLUSIONS: TAPSE predicted the development of hypotension after general anesthesia induction. Further studies are required to prove the diagnostic accuracy of TAPSE as a predictor of hypotension after general anesthesia induction.PMID:36282227 | DOI:10.23736/S0375-9393.22.16711-8

Research progress of goal-directed fluid therapy in prone position surgery
This article introduces the target parameters of GDFT, the influence of prone position on target parameters, and the clinical application of GDFT in the prone position. Many studies have shown that the cut-off values of target parameters such as stroke volume variation (SVV) and pulse pressure variation (PPV) change in the prone position, but the ability to predict fluid responsiveness remains unchanged, which are still helpful indicators for guiding fluid therapy in the prone position. Although it is controversial whether the GDFT strategy can improve the clinical outcome of patients undergoing prone position surgery, it ...

The use of cerebral oximetry in cardiac surgery: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
Ann Card Anaesth. 2022 Oct-Dec;25(4):384-398. doi: 10.4103/aca.aca_149_21.ABSTRACTHigh prevalence of cerebral desaturation is associated with postoperative neurological complications in cardiac surgery. However, the evidence use of cerebral oximetry by correcting cerebral desaturation in the reduction of postoperative complications remains uncertain in the literature. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to examine the effect of cerebral oximetry on the incidence of postoperative cognitive dysfunction in cardiac surgery. Databases of MEDLINE, EMBASE, and CENTRAL were searched from their inception until April 2021...
