Incidence and Outcomes of Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage: A Multicenter Retrospective Registry-based Descriptive Trial in Kobe City
Neurol Med Chir (Tokyo). 2023 Aug 30. doi: 10.2176/jns-nmc.2023-0090. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe current study aims to evaluate the incidence and results of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) throughout Kobe City. Based on a multicenter retrospective registry-based descriptive trial involving all 13 primary stroke centers in Kobe City, patients with aSAH treated between October 2017 and September 2019 were studied. A total of 334 patients were included, with an estimated age-adjusted incidence of 11.12 per 100,000 person-years. Curative treatment was given to 94% of patients, with endovascular treatment (51%)...

Higher Risk of Incident Hyperthyroidism in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation
CONCLUSIONS: Our results provide insight into clinical risk factors for the development of hyperthyroidism in AF patients, as identified by the novel SAD HEC2 score. AF appears to be a common precursor of hyperthyroidism.PMID:37565329 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgad448

E-098 Initial experience with the pipeline vantage flow diverter - vantage one study: six-month results, technical and clinical consideration
ConclusionThe new PVED reveals improved device visibility, ease of delivery and repositioning with precise distal opening in comparison to previous PED generations. Initial results demonstrate overall good device performance, safety profile and effectiveness. The implant requires a modified deployment technique for successful vessel wall apposition of the proximal stent as opposed to the previous generations of PED.ReferencesLylyk I, Scrivano E, Lundquist J, Ferrario A, Bleise C, Perez N, Lylyk PN, Viso R, Nella-Castro R, Lylyk P. Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers for adults with early (stage 1 to 3) non-diabetic chronic kidney disease
CONCLUSIONS: There is currently insufficient evidence to determine the effectiveness of ACEi or ARB in patients with stage 1 to 3 CKD who do not have DM. The available evidence is overall of very low certainty and high risk of bias. We have identified an area of large uncertainty for a group of patients who account for most of those diagnosed as having CKD.PMID:37466151 | DOI:10.1002/14651858.CD007751.pub3

Long-term outcomes of left atrial appendage occlusion in patients with atrial fibrillation and end stage renal disease
CONCLUSIONS: Long-term outcomes of LAAO therapy may be less favorable in patients with AF undergoing dialysis, possibly because of the poor condition of patients with ESRD.PMID:37394333 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfma.2023.06.016

Percutaneous coronary intervention versus coronary artery bypass grafting among patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: The results of this meta-analysis suggest that CABG is superior to PCI for patients with LVSD. CABG was associated with a lower risk of all-cause mortality, repeat revascularization, and incidence of myocardial infarction compared with PCI in patients with LVSD.PMID:37363575 | PMC:PMC10289746 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000000634
