10 Guidelines for Happiness as a DPM Associate
Job search season is upon us... and for most DPMs, it continues 24/7/365. Most DPMs are working as associates. Most grads, no matter what they target or want, will take those DPM associate positions. There's a ton of negativity (most of it founded!) in podiatry with higher tuitions and few good jobs. The saturation for the surgery and high income jobs for DPMs is quite real. The competition in private practice pts is quite high already, and the newest schools are just gettin started... Read more

Abortion laws are driving academics out of some U.S. states —and keeping others from coming
After the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the constitutional right to an abortion in June 2022, Alesha Thayer sat down with her husband and worked out a plan to leave the state where she has been a faculty member for more than 5 years. Abortions had immediately become outlawed there, and Thayer, who has experienced miscarriages and complicated pregnancies and hopes to grow her family, feared the new legal landscape would limit her reproductive autonomy and the care she could receive. “We just can’t be here anymore,” the physical scientist says. (Thayer is not her real name; Science granted anonymity to multiple s...

PSLF / 501C3 Hospitalist Jobs
I am a PGY-3 IM resident. I am planning on being a hospitalist next year. I have a pretty horrid loan situation and I am thinking of taking advantage of the PSLF program. I am beginning the process of my job search for next year but I honestly have no clue where to start. My personal and work emails are flooded with hospitalist job offers but all of them seem to be physician owned groups that are not non-profits. Does anyone have any suggestion on where and how to search for hospitalist... Read more

Pharmacy Education, Make Way for GenZ
Am J Pharm Educ. 2023 May;87(5):100025. doi: 10.1016/j.ajpe.2022.10.006. Epub 2023 Mar 15.ABSTRACTAlthough our classrooms are filled with students spanning multiple generations, students entering pharmacy school are largely members of Generation Z (GenZ). To optimize pharmacy education in and outside of the classroom, we must appreciate the distinctions making GenZ unique. GenZ students want to change the world! Although much of this population is currently emerging in classrooms and careers, preliminary observations indicate they are loyal, hard-working, self-sufficient, willing to earn hierarchical advancement, and may c...

Does examining job market awareness among medical students provide insight into the specialty selection process?
CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrated the utility of querying medical students about their market awareness when investigating the specialty selection process. Students' poor rating of selection criteria, such as specialties with ease in finding jobs because they are suffering workforce shortages and have empty positions, provide insights and concerns for healthcare leaders. It should aid them in approaching the challenge of attracting students to specialties with workforce shortfalls.KEY MESSAGESThis study demonstrated the feasibility and potential value of adding queries about market awareness when investigating the medic...
