Lack of Concordance Between Local Investigators, Angiographic Core Laboratory, and Clinical Event Committee in the Assessment of Stent Thrombosis: Results From the TRACER Angiographic Substudy Coronary Interventions
Conclusions— ST reporting by an ACL, a CEC, and LIs is discordant. The assessment of ST is more often detected by direct review of angiograms by an ACL. Clinical Trial Registration— URL: http://www.clinicaltrials.gov. Unique identifier: NCT00527943.

Trends over the past 4 years in population characteristics, 30-day outcomes and 1-year survival in patients treated with transcatheter aortic valve implantation.
CONCLUSIONS: Over the past 4 years, TAVI has been increasingly performed using a transfemoral approach. Treated patients are at lower-risk with less co-morbidity. Thirty-day mortality and complications remained unchanged, but length of stay after TAVI and 1-year mortality decreased dramatically. PMID: 27342810 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Glycemic Control for Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: Our Evolving Faith in the Face of Evidence Original Articles
Conclusions— Discordance exists between the research evidence and academic and clinical policy statements about the value of tight glycemic control to reduce micro- and macrovascular complications. This discordance may distort priorities in the research and practice agendas designed to improve the lives of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Sapien 3 Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation With Moderate or Without Predilation.
CONCLUSIONS: Balloon-expandable TAVI using the S3 device with moderate or without balloon PD is feasible and safe. Omission of PD in appropriate cases was associated with reduced fluoroscopy time and total contrast used without affecting procedural success. PMID: 27705892 [PubMed - in process]

Trial design: Rivaroxaban for the prevention of major cardiovascular events post transcatheter aortic valve replacement: rationale and design of the GALILEO study
Conclusions GALILEO will test the hypothesis that a rivaroxaban-based antithrombotic strategy reduces the risk of thromboembolic complications post-TAVR with an acceptable risk of bleeding compared with the currently recommended antiplatelet therapy-based strategy in subjects without need of chronic oral anticoagulation.

Efficacy and safety of prehospital administration of unfractionated heparin, enoxaparin or bivalirudin in patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction: Insights from the ORBI registry.
CONCLUSION: In this prospective registry, there were no significant differences in the rates of in-hospital MACE or major bleeding after prehospital initiation of UFH, enoxaparin or bivalirudin in patients treated by primary PCI for STEMI. PMID: 27818120 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Sex Differences in the Epidemiology of New-Onset In-Hospital Post-Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery Atrial Fibrillation: A Large Multicenter Study Original Articles
Conclusions— These novel data on sex-specific characteristics of new-onset AF after isolated CABG show that women had lower adjusted risk for post-CABG AF and experienced shorter episodes. Investigation of sex-specific impacts on outcomes is needed to identify optimal strategies for prevention and management to ensure all patients achieve the best possible outcomes.

Initial Single-Center Experience With the Fully Repositionable Transfemoral Lotus Aortic Valve System.
CONCLUSION: Our first real-time experience with the fully repositionable Lotus TAVR system mimics the results of early clinical studies like REPRISE II. Further next-generation modifications in combination with gaining experience with this new device will likely reduce the need for new permanent pacemaker implantation and vascular complications in the future. Association of Measured Platelet Reactivity with Changes in P2Y12 Receptor Inhibitor Therapy and Outcomes Following Myocardial Infarction: Insights into Routine Clinical Practice from the TRANSLATE-ACS Study
Conclusions Only one-third of PCI-treated MI patients with high on-clopidogrel platelet reactivity were switched to a more potent P2Y12 receptor inhibitor. Intensification of antiplatelet therapy was associated with lower risk of ischemic events at 1year among HPR patients.
