In conclusion, we identified 20 genes with significant evolutionary signals unique to long-lived species, which provided new insight into the lifespan extension of mammals and might bring new strategies to extend human lifespan. « Back to Top Trials of Xenotransplantation of Pig Organs into Humans Continue https://www.fightaging.org/archives/2023/08/trials-of-xenotransplantation-of-pig-organs-into-humans-continue/ Researchers have genetically engineered pigs to overcome the known barriers to transplantation of pig organs into humans, and have reached the stage of conducting transplants in...

High Prevalence of Kidney Stone Disease of Gouty Origin in Roman Pontiffs Reigning in the Years 537-2005
CONCLUSIONS: The data suggest a higher prevalence of uric acid stones, which is linked to higher consumption of meat and sodium chloride. However, the last pope with kidney stone disease died in 1914. Although renal stone disease disappeared from papal palaces, population studies now indicate an increase in uric acid levels in the general population. The data can be explained based on the "Theory of Epidemiological Transition," pointing to the importance of education in eradicating poor lifestyles.PMID:37496353 | DOI:10.6002/ect.IAHNCongress.21

Creating the nursing care map in the evaluation of kidney transplant candidates: A scoping review and narrative synthesis
ConclusionNursing assessment of kidney transplantation candidates should encompass physical, psychosocial and adherence aspects. A variety of methodologies and resources are available for this assessment. Nurses contribute to coordinating access to kidney transplantation, aiming to improve adherence to an appropriate lifestyle to prevent patients from being excluded from kidney transplantation or suffering from kidney transplantation –related complications.ImpactBased on our findings, we managed to design a nursing care map for kidney transplantation candidates combining the main elements of nursing care that should be i...

In conclusion, the longevity-associated genotype of FLT1 may confer increased lifespan by protecting against mortality risk posed by hypertension. We suggest that FLT1 expression in individuals with longevity genotype boosts vascular endothelial resilience mechanisms to counteract hypertension-related stress in vital organs and tissues. Knowledge of COVID-19 and associated factors among kidney transplant recipients and donors in Singapore
CONCLUSIONS: Concerted efforts are needed to improve COVID-19 knowledge in kidney transplant recipients and donors, particularly older donors, donors with lower education and patients with financial concerns or feelings of social isolation. Intensive patient education may mitigate the impact of education levels on COVID-19 knowledge levels.PMID:37338491 | DOI:10.4103/singaporemedj.SMJ-2021-386
