Chronic medical conditions associated with invasive pneumococcal diseases in inpatients in teaching hospitals in S ão Paulo city: Estimating antimicrobial susceptibility and serotype-coverage of pneumococcal vaccines
CONCLUSION: Vaccine with expanded valence of serotypes is necessary to offer broad prevention to IPD. The present data contribute to pneumococcal vaccination public health policies for vulnerable patients, mainly those with comorbidity and the elderly.PMID:36758625 | DOI:10.1016/j.bjid.2023.102746

Single-centre, cross-sectional study on the factors and reasons for non-vaccination among patients with rheumatoid arthritis
CONCLUSIONS: We found that the factors associated with non-vaccination varied by vaccine type; therefore, vaccinations should be promoted with individualised strategies.PMID:36702156 | DOI:10.1093/mr/road003

Factors and Reasons for Non-vaccination among Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: A Single-centre, Cross-sectional Study
Conclusion These findings, which demonstrated that the factors and reasons for non-vaccination varied by vaccine type, suggest that individualised strategies should be used to promote vaccination in this population.PMID:36575017 | DOI:10.2169/internalmedicine.1067-22

Socioeconomic costs of children & lt;5  years hospitalised with acute respiratory infections in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
CONCLUSION: These comprehensive estimated costs of ARI admissions in children < 5 years are high. These costs can be used as a basis for planning treatment and preventive strategies, including cost-effectiveness studies for influenza and, in future, RSV vaccines.PMID:33931252 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2021.04.010

Antimicrobial Susceptibility Trends of < em > Streptococcus pneumoniae < /em > by Age Groups Over Recent 10 Years in a Single Hospital in South Korea
CONCLUSION: Erythromycin and ceftriaxone resistance rates and the MDR rate of S. pneumoniae significantly increased during the recent 10 years; the trends in individual antimicrobial resistance rates significantly differed between the age groups. This study indicates the need for caution when using ceftriaxone as an empirical antimicrobial against pneumococcal infections.PMID:33779084 | DOI:10.3349/ymj.2021.62.4.306
