Ludwig's angina and acute myocardial infarction: A case report
Clin Case Rep. 2023 Aug 24;11(9):e7832. doi: 10.1002/ccr3.7832. eCollection 2023 Sep.ABSTRACTLudwig's angina was first described in 1839 by German physician, Wilhelm Frederick Von Ludwig as a rapidly and fatal progressive gangrenous cellulitis and edema of the soft tissues of the neck and floor of the mouth with rapid spread to other places like anterior mediastinum. However, Type 2 acute myocardial infarction (MI) due to Ludwig's angina has not been documented. A 62-year-old male presented to the emergency department with visible anterior neck swelling for 1 week, which was preceded by a tooth arch 1 week prior, the patie...

Middle Cerebral Artery Dissection: A Report of Two Cases With Treatments and Outcomes
Cureus. 2023 May 29;15(5):e39632. doi: 10.7759/cureus.39632. eCollection 2023 May.ABSTRACTIn the present report, we describe two cases of right-sided M1 segment middle cerebral artery dissection in a 51-year-old Asian female and in a 28-year-old Caucasian male patient with no previous history of ischemic stroke or known intracranial atherosclerosis presenting with acute unilateral headache progressing to severe multifocal hemispheric infarction with nearly complete one-sided motor paralysis. In both patients, a middle cerebral artery dissection was detected on angiography; they were given exclusively medical therapy: patie...

Association of ACE gene polymorphisms with in-stent restenosis by stent type (biomime, supraflex, xience)
CONCLUSION: In the present study, there was no statistically significant relationship between ACE (I/D) gene polymorphism and the incidence of restenosis in patients who underwent repeat angiography. The results showed that the number of patients who received Clopidogrel in the ISR + group was significantly less than the ISR- group. This issue can indicate the inhibitory effect of Clopidogrel in the recurrence of stenosis.PMID:37328581 | DOI:10.1007/s11033-023-08554-7

Capsular warning syndrome and its clinical awareness and therapeutic approach: two case reports and a systematic review of the literature
ConclusionOur cases fit with the description of patients with partial recovery and risk factors (hypertension, diabetes, and smoking) in male patients. There is a lack of evidence regarding the best treatment option; dual antiplatelet therapy and anticoagulation therapy are strong contenders for a favorable result.

Typical clinical presentation of acute myocardial infarction and confusing coronary angiography: A case report and literature review of coronary embolism
Medicine (Baltimore). 2023 May 12;102(19):e33782. doi: 10.1097/MD.0000000000033782.ABSTRACTRATIONALE: The purpose of this article is to discuss the characteristics, diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes of cases of multiple coronary embolism (CE) highly suspected to be caused by a dislodged aneurysm of the ventricular membranous septum (AVMS) thrombus.PATIENT CONCERNS: A 35-year-old man was rushed to the Chest Pain Center of Taicang TCM Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine for sudden onset of chest pain. The patient had severe and persistent chest pain without relief, accompanied by sweating throughou...

Lipoprotein associated- phospholipase A2 in STEMI vs. NSTE-ACS patients: a marker of cardiovascular atherosclerotic risk rather than thrombosis
CONCLUSION: The present study shows that among ACS patients, the levels of Lp-PlA2 are inversely associated with STEMI presentation and thrombotic coronary occlusion, being instead increased in NSTE-ACS patients, therefore potentially representing a marker of more aggressive chronic cardiovascular disease with an increased risk of recurrent cardiovascular events.PMID:37022507 | DOI:10.1007/s11239-023-02801-1

Recurrent Chest Pain Due to a Huge Left Main Aneurysm: A Case Report
J Tehran Heart Cent. 2022 Jan;17(1):33-37. doi: 10.18502/jthc.v17i1.9324.ABSTRACTCoronary artery aneurysms (CAAs) are rare, and aneurysms of the left main coronary artery are extremely rare. Atherosclerosis is the main cause of CAAs. An 87-year-old man with atypical chest pain of 1 month's duration presented to a hospital. Physical examinations of the patient's cardiopulmonary system and vital signs were unremarkable. Electrocardiography showed a right bundle branch block and an atypical ST-segment elevation in the inferior leads. Coronary angiography demonstrated a huge aneurysm in the left main without any clots. Additio...

In-Hospital Bleeding and Mortality in Acute Coronary Syndrome Patients Treated with Tirofiban and Potent P2Y12 Inhibitors
CONCLUSION: In our study, we found that the combined use of potent P2Y12 inhibitor with tiro- fiban in acute coronary syndrome patients treated interventionally was not different from the use of clopidogrel in terms of in-hospital bleeding and mortality.PMID:35860883 | DOI:10.5543/tkda.2022.21311
