Serologic Biomarkers in Pemphigus Monitoring: C-reactive Protein, Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor, and Prolactin Levels Versus Autoantibody Assays
In conclusion, anti-Dsg1, anti-Dsg3, and IIF autoantibody titers remain standard biomarkers for assessing disease activity, severity, and PV monitoring. The trend of CRP was similar to that of anti-Dsg1, anti-Dsg3, and IIF. Thus, CRP may be used for PV monitoring.PMID:37524667 | DOI:10.18502/ijaai.v22i3.13059

A retrospective analysis of clinical features and treatment outcome in 21 patients with immunoglobulin M-related light-chain amyloidosis in Japan: a study from the Amyloidosis Research Committee
Int J Hematol. 2023 Jul 29. doi: 10.1007/s12185-023-03647-2. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWe retrospectively gathered data of 21 patients (13 male and 8 female; median age 65 years) diagnosed with immunoglobulin M (IgM)-related light-chain (AL) amyloidosis in Japan to investigate characteristics of IgM-AL amyloidosis and its optimal treatment strategy. Median IgM and difference free light chain (FLC) at diagnosis were 1257 mg/dl and 34.3 mg/l, respectively. Organ involvement was observed in the heart in 7 patients (33%), kidneys in 15 (71%), and lymph nodes in 5 (24%). Initial treatments were melphalan/dexamethasone in 7 ...

Rituximab-associated PRES in antibody-mediated kidney rejection: A case report
Transpl Immunol. 2023 Jul 26;80:101907. doi: 10.1016/j.trim.2023.101907. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPosterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome (PRES) is a rare neurological disorder with a wide range of neurological symptoms. Different risk factors are known for PRES in patients with a history of kidney transplantation; these patients developing PRES were associated with immunosuppressants and cytotoxic drug therapies, including reports of rituximab therapy. Herein, we report a case of rituximab-associated PRES in the context of antibody-mediated kidney allograft rejection. A 29-year-old male patient with antibody-med...

Overlap syndrome of anti-aquaporin-4 positive neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder and systemic lupus erythematosus: A systematic review of individual patient data
CONCLUSION: AQP4+NMOSD in SLE patients is a relapsing and neurologically disabling disorder that can mimic neuropsychiatric manifestations, frequently occurs after the onset of lupus or may predate, responds to immunosuppressants, and necessitates indefinite treatment.PMID:37487596 | DOI:10.1177/09612033231191180
