Nicardipine versus Labetalol for Hypertension during Acute Stroke: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Conclusion: More prospective, comparative trials are needed to investigate the efficacy of BP management as well as clinical outcomes in acute stroke patients receiving continuous labetalol and nicardipine infusions.

Hypertensive Crisis in Pregnancy
Severe hypertension in pregnancy is a medical emergency, defined as systolic blood pressure (BP) ≥ 160 mm Hg and/or diastolic BP ≥ 110 mm Hg taken 15 minutes to 4 or more hours apart. Outside pregnancy, acute severe hypertension (HTN) is defined as a BP greater than 180/110 to 120 reproducible on 2 occasions. The lower threshold for severe HTN in pregnancy reflects the increased risk for adverse outcomes, particularly maternal stroke and death, and may be a source of under-recognition and treatment delay, particularly in nonobstetrical health care settings. Once a severe hypertension episode is recognized, antihyper...

E-108 Ruptured intracranial aneurysm presenting as isolated acute subdural hemorrhage
ConclusionIn rare cases, ruptured intracranial aneurysms can be associated with isolated subdural hemorrhage. Common treatment options include endovascular coiling and microsurgical clipping. However, endovascular repair is often preferred especially when the patient may not be able to tolerate a surgical procedure, as was the case with this patient. In this case, the patient presented with stroke-like symptoms and was found to have a subdural hemorrhage. After emergent craniotomy to evacuate the hematoma, successful endovascular coiling was performed, and the patient was stabilized for further management>Disclosures D....

A comparative study of intravenous labetalol VS intravenous Nitroglycerin in the treatment of hypertensive crises
Indian Heart J. 2022 Jun 3:S0019-4832(22)00097-9. doi: 10.1016/j.ihj.2022.06.001. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHypertensive crises is still a major public health problem, causing end organ damage like myocardial infarction, stroke, and renal failure. Labetalol and nitroglycerine are among the two most commonly used medicine to control the blood pressure, but there is no head to head comparison between these two medicines. This was a prospective randomized non-blinded study which included 50 patients of hypertensive crises, out which 25 patients received intravenous labetalol and 25 patients received intravenous nitroglyce...

Machine Learning Techniques in Blood Pressure Management During the Acute Phase of Ischemic Stroke
ConclusionThis is the first study to address BP management in the acute phase of ischemic stroke using ML techniques. The results indicate that the treatment choice should be adjusted to different clinical and BP parameters, thus, providing a better decision-making approach.

ACOG Committee Opinion No. 767 Summary: Emergent Therapy for Acute-Onset, Severe Hypertension During Pregnancy and the Postpartum Period.
Authors: Abstract Acute-onset, severe systolic hypertension; severe diastolic hypertension; or both can occur during the prenatal, intrapartum, or postpartum periods. Pregnant women or women in the postpartum period with acute-onset, severe systolic hypertension; severe diastolic hypertension; or both require urgent antihypertensive therapy. Introducing standardized, evidence-based clinical guidelines for the management of patients with preeclampsia and eclampsia has been demonstrated to reduce the incidence of adverse maternal outcomes. Individuals and institutions should have mechanisms in place to initiate the...
