Parthanatos participates in glutamate-mediated HT22 cell injury and hippocampal neuronal death in kainic acid-induced status epilepticus rats
CONCLUSION: Parthanatos participates in glutamate-induced HT22 cell injury and hippocampal neuronal damage in rats following epileptic seizures. ROS might be the initiating factor during parthanatos.PMID:35909335 | DOI:10.1111/cns.13934

Miltirone Attenuates Reactive Oxygen Species-Dependent Neuronal Apoptosis in MPP < sup > + < /sup > -Induced Cell Model of Parkinson's Disease Through Regulating the PI3K/Akt Pathway
In conclusion, miltirone attenuated ROS-dependent apoptosis in MPP+-induced cellular model of PD through activating the PI3K/Akt pathway.PMID:35810264 | DOI:10.1007/s11064-022-03669-y

Fine particulate matter exposure aggravates ischemic injury via NLRP3 inflammasome activation and pyroptosis
CONCLUSION: These results suggested that PM2.5 exposure triggered the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome and pyroptosis under ischemic conditions, which may be mediated by increased ROS production after ischemic stroke. These findings may provide a more enhanced understanding of the interplay between PM2.5 and neuroinflammation and cell death, and reveal a novel mechanism of PM2.5-mediated toxic effects after ischemic stroke.PMID:35403328 | DOI:10.1111/cns.13837

Nutraceuticals and peripheral glial cells: a possible link?
J Integr Neurosci. 2022 Jan 20;21(1):1. doi: 10.31083/j.jin2101001.ABSTRACTA nutraceutical is a food-derived molecule that provides medical or health benefits beyond its basic nutritional role, including the prevention and treatment of disease and its symptoms. In the peripheral nervous system, satellite glial cells are found in close relationship with neurons, mainly in peripheral sensory ganglia, but, compared with other glial cells, the relationship between these cells and nutraceuticals has received little attention. After describing satellite glial cells and their role and changes in physiology and pathology, we revie...
