COVID-19 Can Cause New Cholesterol Problems. What to Know
Not long after the start of the global coronavirus pandemic, it was apparent that many people infected with SARS-CoV-2 were developing persistent and, in some cases, debilitating health problems. Now known widely as post-Covid syndrome or Long COVID, the most common symptoms of this condition are fatigue, attention problems, headaches, muscle or joint pain, and weakness. Lessons from the Space-2 trial in preventing carotid artery stroke in medically managed patients
The SPACE-2 trial, led by Dr Tilman Reiff1 from Heidelberg University, was a multi-center, randomized, controlled trial including 36 centers in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. It aimed to directly compare the benefit of intervention vs best medical therapy (BMT) in patients with high-grade asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis. Interventions considered were carotid endarterectomy (CEA) and carotid artery stenting (CAS). Participants were between the ages of 50 and 85  years with at least 70% internal carotid artery stenosis.

In Italy, as it is the case for several other countries, the University courses last 6 years, during which the MD student is fully engaged by individual study, lessons and seminars, exercises, and internships.
