An investigation into the impact of enteric coated of aspirin in patients with newly diagnosed ischemic stroke (ECASIS)
Discussion: This trial will determine potential differences in the efficacy of EC Aspirin and plain Aspirin on the Thromboxane B2 level. Additionally, it will ascertain the tolerability and safety of both formulations of Aspirin in patients with newly diagnosed ischemic stroke. These results will either support the current notion of no difference between the two formulations. However, if a difference is found, this will invite for future trials exploring clinical outcomes occurrence between various formulations. Fatness, Affluence, Adaptation and Hope
Colleagues and I recently submitted a grant application to a large foundation, seeking funds to support the True Health Initiative. The funds, should we be fortunate enough to secure them, will accelerate the development of a global communication campaign to convey the evidence and consensus-based fundamentals of healthy living, and notably, healthy eating. Burden of Stroke in Qatar
Qatar is located on the northeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula. The total population is over 2.1 million with around 15% being Qatari citizens. Hamad General Hospital (HGH) is the only tertiary referral governmental hospital in Qatar which admits acute (thrombolysis-eligible) stroke patients.

Women with atrial fibrillation in Qatar with special reference to gender difference: Caution on the representativeness of non-Caucasian countries
Salam and colleagues reported the outcomes of treatment of women hospitalized with atrial fibrillation (AF) in Qatar, with special emphasis on the gender difference . Data of a total of 1417 women and 2432 men with cardiac illness from a hospital database were retrospectively analyzed. The results of the analysis revealed that the mean age of the women at admission for atrial fibrillation was 5 years older than that of the men, and that the prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors was higher in the women.
