Virulence Factors and Antimicrobial Resistance of Uropathogenic < em > Escherichia coli < /em > EQ101 UPEC Isolated from UTI Patient in Quetta, Balochistan, Pakistan
Biomed Res Int. 2023 Sep 11;2023:7278070. doi: 10.1155/2023/7278070. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTInfectious diseases have been tremendously increasing as the organisms of even normal flora become opportunistic and cause an infection, and Escherichia coli (E. coli EQ101) is one of them. Urinary tract infections are caused by various microorganisms, but Escherichia coli is the primary cause of almost 70%-90% of all UTIs. It has multiple strains, possessing diverse virulence factors, contributing to its pathogenicity. Furthermore, these virulent strains also can cause overlapping pathogenesis by sharing resistance and virulence ...

Resistance Patterns of Frequently Applied Antimicrobials and Occurrence of Antibiotic Resistance Genes in < em > Edwardsiella Tarda < /em > Detected in Edwardsiellosis-Infected Tilapia Species of Fish Farms of Punjab in Pakistan
In conclusion misuse of antibacterial agents causes the emergence of ABR genes in E. tarda which in association with high temperature causes multiple abnormalities in infected fish ultimately causing massive mortality.PMID:36788450 | DOI:10.4014/jmb.2301.01008

Treatment of enteric fever (typhoid and paratyphoid fever) with cephalosporins
CONCLUSIONS: Based on very low- to low-certainty evidence, ceftriaxone is an effective treatment for adults and children with enteric fever, with few adverse effects. Trials suggest that there may be no difference in the performance of ceftriaxone compared with azithromycin, fluoroquinolones, or chloramphenicol. Cefixime can also be used for treatment of enteric fever but may not perform as well as fluoroquinolones. We are unable to draw firm general conclusions on comparative contemporary effectiveness given that most trials were small and conducted over 20 years previously. Clinicians need to take into account current, l...

Antibiotic resistance pattern and pathological features of avian pathogenic Escherichia coli O78:K80 in chickens
This study aimed to investigate the antibiotic resistance pattern associated with frequent virulence gene distribution in APEC O78:K80 that may cause pathological alterations in chickens. The antibiogram profile showed high resistance to erythromycin, chloramphenicol, tetracycline, ampicillin, and co-trimoxazole, followed by intermediate resistance to ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, enrofloxacin, norfloxacin, nitrofurantoin, and doxycycline hydrochloride, and sensitive to amikacin, streptomycin, gentamicin, and colistin. Virulence gene distribution identifies eight (irp-2, iutA, ompT, iss, iucD, astA, hlyF, iroN) genes throug...
