Trends in and Prognostic Significance of Time to Treatment in Pancreatic Cancer: A Population-Based Study
CONCLUSIONS: Delayed treatment approaching 2 months was observed in 10% of the population. The rising temporal trend in TTT may be attributed to the increasing shift toward neoadjuvant CT/RT in early-stage PDAC and/or the increasing use of tissue biopsy prior to surgery.PMID:37624518 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-14221-9

A scoping review of hormonal clinical trials in menstrual cycle-related brain disorders: studies in premenstrual mood disorder, menstrual migraine, and catamenial epilepsy
CONCLUSIONS: Research in PMD, MM, and CE commonly have overlapping study design and research methods, and similar effects of some interventions suggest the possibility of overlapping mechanisms contributing to their cyclical symptom presentation. Our scoping review is the first to summarize existing clinical trials in these three brain disorders, specifically focusing on hormonal treatment trials. We find that PMD has a stronger body of literature for ovulation-suppressing COC and GnRHa trials; the field of MM consists of extensive estrogen-based studies; and current consensus in CE focuses on progesterone supplementation ...

Neighborhood-Level Socioeconomic Disadvantage Predicts Outcomes in Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy for Peritoneal Malignancy
CONCLUSIONS: Even after controlling for cancer-specific variables, adverse outcomes persisted in association with neighborhood-level socioeconomic disadvantage. The individual and structural-level factors leading to these cancer disparities warrant further investigation to improve outcomes for all patients with peritoneal malignancies.PMID:37620532 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-14074-2

Claus, Celina Berm údez, Valérie Vallet, Laurent Margulès, Manuel Goubet Analysis of the structures of monohydrated naphthaldehyde indicates that the β-isomer exhibits higher hydrophilicity compared to the α-isomer, supported by electronic densities, hydration energies, and structural considerations. Participatory Mathematical Modeling Approach for Policymaking during the First Year of the COVID-19 Crisis, Jordan
Emerg Infect Dis. 2023 Sep;29(9):1738-1746. doi: 10.3201/eid2909.221493.ABSTRACTWe engaged in a participatory modeling approach with health sector stakeholders in Jordan to support government decision-making regarding implementing public health measures to mitigate COVID-19 disease burden. We considered the effect of 4 physical distancing strategies on reducing COVID-19 transmission and mortality in Jordan during March 2020-January 2021: no physical distancing; intermittent physical distancing where all but essential services are closed once a week; intermittent physical distancing where all but essential services are clos...
