Clinimetric properties of the Fugl-Meyer assessment with adapted guidelines for the assessment of arm function in hemiparetic patients after stroke.

A Case of Posterior Circulation Ischemic Stroke Caused by Heparin-Induced Thrombocytopenia after Detaining Hepatic Arterial Infusion Catheter
In Japan, hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) using reservoir system is recommended for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) whose hepatic spare ability is favorable. Arterial infusion catheter is commonly detained in hepatic artery via femoral or brachial artery. In our hospital, catheter is often inserted by puncturing the left subclavian or brachial artery considering the patient's activities of daily living (ADL) during long-term detaining. However, it rarely causes posterior circulation ischemic stroke because of the left vertebral artery branches on the path of catheter.

Evaluation of Intraplaque Neovascularization Using Superb Microvascular Imaging and Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasonography
Several studies have shown a linkage between intraplaque neovascularization (IPN) and plaque instability. Although contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) may help visualize IPN in the carotid artery, its benefits are limited in Japan, where there is no health insurance coverage for contrast agents in medical imaging. Superb microvascular imaging (SMI), however, enables the depiction of low-velocity blood flow. The current study compares the diagnostic accuracy of SMI and CEUS in the evaluation of IPN.

Risk Factors for and Clinical Consequences of Multiple Intracranial Aneurysms Clinical Sciences
Conclusions—Female sex, higher age, arterial hypertension, smoking, and familial IA are major risk factors for MIA. In addition, MIA patients are at risk for enhanced IA formation. Further studies are needed to evaluate rupture risk and the role of ethnicity, especially in the context of increased MIA identification with improved neurovascular imaging.

Clinical Study of Intravenous, Low-Dose Recombinant Tissue Plasminogen Activator for Acute Cerebral Infarction: Comparison of Treatment within 3  Hours versus 3-4.5 Hours
An intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA, alteplase .6  mg/kg) for acute cerebral infarction within 3 hours of onset was approved in Japan in 2005. The treatment window was subsequently extended to within 4.5 hours of onset. However, few Japanese studies have compared the efficacy and safety of rt-PA therapy between patients treated within 3 hou rs and patients treated within 3-4.5 hours.
