New Postmortem Perspective on Emerging SARS-CoV-2 Variants of Concern, Germany
Emerg Infect Dis. 2023 Feb 14;29(3). doi: 10.3201/eid2903.221297. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWe performed autopsies on persons in Germany who died from COVID-19 and observed higher nasopharyngeal SARS-CoV-2 viral loads for variants of concern (VOC) compared with non-VOC lineages. Pulmonary inflammation and damage appeared higher in non-VOC than VOC lineages until adjusted for vaccination status, suggesting COVID-19 vaccination may mitigate pulmonary damage.PMID:36787498 | DOI:10.3201/eid2903.221297

No association of malignant B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas with ipsilateral SARS-CoV-2 vaccination
CONCLUSIONS: Together, we found no evidence that the current SARS-CoV-2 vaccines could serve as a trigger for lymphomagenesis in the draining lymph node areas of the deltoid region used for vaccination.PMID:36775947 | DOI:10.1002/cam4.5687

Dtsch Med Wochenschr. 2023 Feb;148(4):175-182. doi: 10.1055/a-1972-4118. Epub 2023 Feb 7.ABSTRACTSince October 2021 in Germany all people with a statutory health insurance aged 35 and older have the right to be tested once for hepatitis B and C in a general preventative examination, regardless of specific risk-factors. This is a milestone on the way of eliminating these infections and also a great contribution to cancer prevention. In the USA the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention in April 2020 recommended a one-time screening for all adults aged 18 and older in addition to testing people with known risk-factors, bec...
