Prevalence of Soil-Transmitted Helminths and Schistosoma mansoni among Schoolchildren across Altitudinal Gradients in Amhara National Regional State, Ethiopia
In conclusion, prevalence rates of STHs and S. mansoni infections differed across altitudes in Amhara Regional State. Therefore, current control strategies including deworming and provision of clean water and education on sanitation and hygiene should be intensified and adapted to the local context.PMID:37580029 | DOI:10.4269/ajtmh.23-0124

A Five-Year (2016-2020) Trend Analysis of Malaria Surveillance Data in Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia
Conclusions and Recommendation. Trends of total clinical and confirmed malaria cases decreased from year to year except for the recent year with an exceptional variability in 2019. The highest or peak of malaria cases was observed during spring season (September-November). Malaria indicator-based performance plans and achievements should be regularly and strictly reviewed and evaluated at each level.PMID:37576999 | PMC:PMC10423085 | DOI:10.1155/2023/5278839

Micronutrients and sociodemographic factors were major predictors of anemia among the Ethiopian population
This study focused on the assessment of serum micronutrient and Hb concentrations and a range of non-nutritional factors; to evaluate their associations with the risk of anemia among the Ethiopian population (n=2046). It also explored the mediation effect of zinc (Zn) on the relation between selenium (Se) and Hb. Bivariate and multivariate regression analyses were performed to identify the relationship between serum micronutrients concentration, inflammation biomarkers, nutritional status, presence of parasitic infection and socio-demographic factors with Hb concentration. (n=2046). Sobel-Goodman test was applied to invest...
