A Mini Review on Discovery and Synthesis of Remdesivir as an Effective and Promising Drug against COVID-19
Russ J Bioorg Chem. 2021;47(3):609-621. doi: 10.1134/S1068162021030183. Epub 2021 Jun 11.ABSTRACTThe severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) as a new human coronavirus has begun spreading over Wuhan City/China in December 2019, and then spread rapidly worldwide, causing pneumonia called COVID-19. Up to now, the scientists have extensively attempted to find effective vaccines and drugs for treatment of coronavirus infections. To this end, various pharmaceutical agents are undergoing the clinical studies to assess their potency and efficacy against COVID-19. Based on the new findings, the U.S. food and d...

In conclusion, a number of high-income countries, changes in health expectancies over time have not kept pace with the growth in life expectancy. That is, people are living longer but disability and poor health are occupying an increasing proportion of later life. Our findings suggest that countries still need to make significant progress to achieve the WHO's Decade of Healthy Ageing goal of healthier, longer lives for all. One cross-sectional investigation revealed that non-vaccine serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae could be identified more frequently in elderly Chinese people
CONCLUSION: The PCV13 coverage rate in pediatric isolates was higher than those in adult isolates. The adults, especially the elderly, may be the reservoir of non-PCV13 types. It is necessary to investigate the serotype distribution of S. pneumoniae based on all age population to assess potential epidemics of non-vaccine serotype associated with PCVs administration.PMID:33980399 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2021.02.053

Immunogenicity and safety of 7-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV7) in children aged 2-5 years in China
CONCLUSIONS: A single dose of PCV7 was immunogenic and safe for Chinese children aged 2-5 years, and the preexisting antibodies against the PCV7 serotypes did not change the response to vaccination. The findingssupported the effectiveness of PCV7 in this age group. PCVs with broader serotype coverage are expected to expand pneumococcal disease protection.PMID:33965257 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2021.04.037

Clinical characteristics and plasma antibody titer of patients with COVID-19 in Zhejiang, China
J Zhejiang Univ Sci B. 2020 Dec.;21(12):955-960. doi: 10.1631/jzus.B2000593.ABSTRACTCoronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which first affected humans in China on December 31, 2019 (Shi et al., 2020). Coronaviruses generally cause mild, self-limiting upper respiratory tract infections in humans, such as the common cold, pneumonia, and gastroenteritis (To et al., 2013; Berry et al., 2015; Chan et al., 2015). According to the Report of the World Health Organization (WHO)-China Joint Mission on COVID-19 (WHO, 2020), the case fatality...
