Factors that predict pursuing sinus surgery in the era of highly effective modulator therapy
ConclusionsWorse sinonasal symptom burden, lack of ETI treatment, sleep quality, depression, and nasal endoscopy scores were associated with electing ESS, while lung disease severity and sinus CT scores were not. ETI use was associated with lower odds of pursuing ESS independent of sinonasal symptom burden.

Accessing the Eustachian Tube: Conventional nasal spray vs. exhalation delivery system and the impact of targeted endoscopic sinus surgery on topical distribution patterns
ConclusionsEDS is more effective than NS in topical delivery to the NP and ET orifices in cadavers. Targeted ESS may facilitate greater NP penetration by EDS compared to NS, with possible synergism after ESS for augmented delivery. These findings suggest a role for EDS delivery methods for ETD management and in CRS+ETD patients undergoing sinus surgery. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved

The Direct Impact of the COVID ‐19 Pandemic on Rhinology Practice
ConclusionsCOVID-19 significantly affected the number of patients seen, virtual visit encounters, nasal endoscopies, and imaging utilization. Further research is needed to determine if patient outcomes were impacted and if these changes in practice will persist. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved

Body Mass Index in relation to symptom presentation upon diagnosis of Eosinophilic Esophagitis in Children
CONCLUSION: Nearly one-third of children were obese or overweight status upon diagnosis with EoE. Children with BMI in the overweight or obese range were more likely to be older at diagnosis and to have a chief complaint of abdominal pain on presentation.PMID:37311509 | DOI:10.1016/j.anai.2023.06.004

Gastrointestinal Disease in Mastocytosis
Gastrointestinal symptoms are prevalent in patients with systemic mastocytosis and contribute to morbidity. In indolent disease, the symptoms, which include heartburn, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, are largely due to release of mast cell mediators but may be due to other factors. A thorough evaluation that incorporates abdominal imaging and endoscopy with intestinal biopsy assists with diagnosis and management. Patients with advanced mastocytosis experience signs and symptoms of gastrointestinal dysfunction owing to the massive infiltration of clonal mast cells in the tissues. The gastrointestinal symptoms in systemic mast...

Characterization of a group of children with eosinophilic esophagitis in Cali, Colombia
CONCLUSIONS: The majority of patients with EoE were females. The most frequent symptom was abdominal pain. Endoscopic abnormalities were also observed frequently, and the prevalence of other allergic diseases (especially rhinitis) and allergenic sensitization (especially to mites) was high.PMID:37169558 | DOI:10.15586/aei.v51i3.729
