Supplementation of Mice with Specific Nondigestible Oligosaccharides during Pregnancy or Lactation Leads to Diminished Sensitization and Allergy in the Female Offspring Nutritional Immunology
Conclusions: These data show impaired sensitization in offspring of scGOS/lcFOS/pAOS-supplemented mice. A number of the analyzed variables are differentially affected by whether supplementation occurs during pregnancy or lactation, and the outcome of dietary supplementation is affected by whether the mother has been sensitized to ovalbumin and CT.

Does Exposing Infants to Peanut Products Influence the Risk of a Peanut Allergy?
In the past, it was recommended that highly allergenic foods, such as eggs, nuts, and fish, be delayed in infants who were at increased risk of food allergies. A rise in the incidence and prevalence of food allergies prompted a re-examination of the guidelines advising the delay of allergenic foods. More recently, there has been evidence suggesting that either delaying the introduction of solid foods (beyond 4 to 6 months) and/or avoiding foods considered to be highly allergenic might actually increase the risk of food allergy in infants.
