AbstractPrevious studies found that physicians working in developed countries in Europe and in the USA declared insufficient knowledge concerning immune-related adverse events (irAE) following use of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) in cancer treatment. We determined this knowledge gap among rheumatologists and medical students (MS) in Brazil. A web-based structured survey or a direct interview was applied to 1428 board-certified Brazilian rheumatologists and an adapted questionnaire was sent to 840 undergraduate MS attending the last 2 years of Medical Schools in Fortaleza-CE, Brazil, in September 2019. 228 (15.9%) rheu...

Changing Medical Education, Overnight: The Curricular Response to COVID-19 of Nine Medical Schools
Teach Learn Med. 2021 Mar 11:1-9. doi: 10.1080/10401334.2021.1891543. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIssue: Calls to change medical education have been frequent, persistent, and generally limited to alterations in content or structural re-organization. Teach Learn Med. 2021 Jul 19:1-11. doi: 10.1080/10401334.2021.1938074. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIssue: Life-long learning is a skill that is central to competent health professionals, and medical educators have sought to understand how adult professionals learn, adapt to new information, and independently seek to learn more. Accrediting bodies now mandate that training programs teach in ways that promote self-directed learning (SDL) but do not provide adequate guidance on how to address this requirement. Evidence: The model for the SDL mandate in physician training is based mostly on early childhood and secondary educ...
