< em > In vitro < /em > evaluation of antibiotic synergy for carbapenem-resistant < em > Klebsiella pneumoniae < /em > clinical isolates
CONCLUSIONS: Of the three combinations tested, imipenem and tigecycline followed by meropenem-colistin were found to be best. No synergy was detected for levofloxacin-polymyxin B combination.PMID:35345078 | DOI:10.4103/ijmr.IJMR_760_19

Global epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance in commensal Neisseria species: A systematic review
CONCLUSION: The MICs of commensal Neisseria spp. appear to be increasing in multiple countries. Surveillance of MICs in commensals could be used as an early warning system for antimicrobial resistance emergence in pathogens. Our findings underline the need for antibiotic stewardship interventions, particularly in populations with high antimicrobial consumption.PMID:35231823 | DOI:10.1016/j.ijmm.2022.151551

Aminoglycoside resistance in < em > Pseudomonas aeruginosa < /em > : the contribution of the MexXY-OprM efflux pump varies between isolates
Conclusion. Our findings show that the interplay between MexXY, MexZ and the level of mexXY expression plays an important role in aminoglycoside resistance in clinical isolates of P. aeruginosa but the magnitude of the contribution of this efflux pump to resistance is isolate-specific.PMID:35708991 | DOI:10.1099/jmm.0.001551

Polyurethane based hybrid ciprofloxacin-releasing wound dressings designed for skin engineering purpose
CONCLUSIONS: A promising hybrid wound dressing was labeled. Simple and cost-effective methods were used to obtain microbiologically active and biocompatible dressings. The results were of importance for the design and development of acceptable solutions in the management of chronic wounds of high potential for infection.PMID:35841880 | DOI:10.1016/j.advms.2022.05.003

Whole-genome analysis of < em > Haemophilus influenzae < /em > strains isolated from persons with cystic fibrosis
Conclusion. The H. influenzae strains showed limited levels of resistance, with the highest being against co-trimoxazole. Sequences encoding a carbamate kinase and a haemoglobin- and haemoglobin-haptoglobin-binding-like protein, a glycosyl transferase and an urease may aid the colonization of the CF lung. The adhesins and other identified putative virulence factors did not seem to be necessary for colonization.PMID:36006824 | DOI:10.1099/jmm.0.001570
