Extrapulmonary sarcoidosis in an atypical patient demographic
This article describes osseous, hepatic, and cutaneous manifestations due to sarcoidosis. The patient was diagnosed with sarcoidosis, treated with a dynamic hip screw implant with a derotational screw, and discharged on a new medication regimen: vitamin D, calcium supplements, alendronate, methotrexate, and hydroxychloroquine.PMID:33456182 | PMC:PMC7785207 | DOI:10.1080/08998280.2020.1824963

Seronegative necrotizing autoimmune myopathy with favorable response to intravenous immunoglobulin
We describe a 68-year-old man who presented with progressive weakness in proximal muscles of all four limbs and was found to have autoantibody-negative necrotizing autoimmune myopathy (NAM). His myopathy was refractory to corticosteroids and methotrexate, but subsequently demonstrated successful response to intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG). The patient also received rituximab, but the timing of his recovery favored IVIG as the more important factor in terms of efficacy. Treatment guidelines for seronegative necrotizing myopathies are lacking. This case suggests a potential efficacious treatment option for the seronegative...

Revascularization Versus Medical Treatments in Stable Coronary Artery Disease: Predicting the Future of Novel Drug Therapies for Stable Angina
In conclusion, from the available data, PCI and coronary surgery have not been shown to improve hard end points and routine use of invasive revascularization should be avoided in patients with chronic stable angina. Evidence-based secondary prevention remains the most important approach.

Methotrexate treatment in progressive tubal ectopic pregnancies and hCG-related clinicosurgical implications
Publication date: Available online 31 May 2016 Source:The Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences Author(s): Askin Dogan, Ibrahim Gulhan, Ibrahim Uyar, Atalay Ekin, Cenk Gezer, Muzaffer Bilgin, Cüneyt E. Taner, Ibrahim E. Ertas Our aim was to evaluate the relationship between the success of methotrexate treatment and β-hCG levels in progressive tubal ectopic pregnancies. We defined a retrospective cohort of 394 progressive tubal ectopic pregnancy patients treated with methotrexate. A single-dose methotrexate protocol using 50 mg/m2 was administered to patients with progressive tubal ectopic pregnancy. Surgery wa...

Medical ozone increases methotrexate clinical response and improves cellular redox balance in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
Abstract Medical ozone reduced inflammation, IL-1β, TNF-α mRNA levels and oxidative stress in PG/PS-induced arthritis in rats. The aim of this study was to investigate the medical ozone effects in patients with rheumatoid arthritis treated with methotrexate and methotrexate+ozone, and to compare between them. A randomized clinical study with 60 patients was performed, who were divided into two groups: one (n = 30) treated with methotrexate (MTX), folic acid and Ibuprophen (MTX group) and the second group (n = 30) received the same as the MTX group + medical ozone by rectal insufflation of the gas (MTX+ozone grou...

Cesarean Scar Pregnancies – Incidence and Factors Associated with Conversion to Surgery from Medical Management
ConclusionsCSP has emerged as an important phenomenon in modern obstetrics and gynecology and it appears that its frequency is on the rise. The preferred method of treatment is yet to be known, however, it is possible that a large MSD and trophoblastic mass at presentation should prompt surgical treatment.
