Clinical and immunological profile of children aged 5-9 years with persistent egg allergy before oral immunotherapy with egg. A multicenter, randomized controlled trial of the Spanish Society of Pediatric Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology (SEICAP).
CONCLUSIONS: OIT with egg is regarded as an option in patients with persistent egg allergy. In the previous challenge test, an IgE specific of ovomucoid titer of <2.045kU/l differentiates those patients that tolerate cooked egg white. PMID: 29804794 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Analysis of the effectiveness of training school personnel in the management of food allergy and anaphylaxis.
CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrates the usefulness of a self-efficacy scale in school personnel as a tool to assess the ability to manage food allergy and anaphylaxis. It can help to identify problem areas in which more specific training programs can be implemented. PMID: 30193885 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Sensitization to Cat: When Is Nasal Challenge Needed?
Conclusions: In adult patients with PER, the frequency of cat allergy was similar among cat owners and non-owners. A cat SPT wheal size ≥6.5 mm could be helpful in detecting true cat allergy by avoiding the demanding, time-consuming, and often unavailable cNCT when cat AIT is needed.Int Arch Allergy Immunol

Relative cost-effectiveness of using an extensively hydrolyzed casein formula containing the probiotic Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG in managing infants with cow’s milk allergy in Spain
Conclusion: Using eHCF + LGG instead of eHCF alone or amino acid formulae for first-line management of newly-diagnosed infants with cow’s milk allergy affords a cost-effective use of publicly funded resources because it improves outcome for less cost. A randomized controlled study showing faster tolerance development in children receiving a probiotic-containing formula is required before this conclusion can be confirmed. Keywords: amino acid formula, cost-effectiveness, cow’s milk allergy, extensively hydrolyzed formula, Spain, Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG

Galactose- α-1,3-galactose (alpha-gal) allergy: first pediatric case in a series of patients in Spain.
CONCLUSIONS: A review is also made of the disorder which, due to its variable clinical expression, is referred to as alpha-gal syndrome.
