Risk Stratification in a Tertiary Care Spine Centre: Comparison Between STarTBack and OSPRO-YF Screening Tools
CONCLUSIONS: STarTBack and OSPRO-YF are short screening tools with acceptable convergent and known-group construct validity and no floor or ceiling effect of their total score. Both tools could assist with the identification, evaluation, and management of psychological distress in patients presenting to tertiary care spine centres.PMID:37736380 | PMC:PMC10510560 | DOI:10.3138/ptc-2021-0026

The Efficacy of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Approaches in Chronic Migraine: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
CONCLUSIONS: A limited number of RCTs investigating the efficacy of physical therapy and rehabilitation approaches show promise in improving headache symptoms, reducing disability, and enhancing QoL in CM. Meta-analysis of the data also supported favorable outcomes for both intensity and headache days per month. Further research is needed to better understand the efficacy, optimal duration, and safety of physical therapy and rehabilitation approaches for CM, and to explore alternative interventions.PMID:37735140 | DOI:10.31083/j.jin2205126

Translation, cross-cultural adaptation and reliability testing of the barriers to physical activity and Disability survey (B-PADS) for Thai people with Spinal Cord injury
CONCLUSION: The Thai-B-PADS final version was successfully translated and culturally adapted for people with SCI.IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONMulti-stakeholders, including academic experts, researchers, translators, clinicians, target users and clients, should be involved in developing health-related questionnaires' translation and cultural adaptation processes. The Thai version of Barriers to Physical Activity and Disability Survey (B-PADS) possessed high levels of inter- and intra-rater reliability to assess barriers related to undertaking physical activities or exercise in people with spinal cord injury.Interactional b...

Evaluation of providers' assistive technology service delivery practices in Pakistan
CONCLUSIONS: While the majority of respondents provide assistive technology, a significant proportion (46.5%) don't. This may suggest there is a need for additional advocacy and awareness raising of the benefits of and how to access assistive technology in Pakistan.PMID:37725403 | DOI:10.1080/17483107.2023.2257764

Electrical dry needling versus a non-invasive multicomponent intervention in the treatment of myofascial trigger points in patients with chronic low back pain: A randomised clinical trial
CONCLUSIONS: In comparison to a non-invasive multicomponent intervention, electrical dry needling has more positive effects on disability, pain intensity, kinesiophobia, and reducing patients' sensitivity to myofascial trigger points pressure, at post-treatment and at 2 months.CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER: NCT04804228. Registered on May 28th, 2021. Available at https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04804228.PMID:37700695 | DOI:10.1177/02692155231201589

Using ultrasound elastography to assess non-invasive, non-pharmacological interventions for musculoskeletal stiffness: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Ultrasound elastography demonstrates clinical applicability for assessing non-invasive, non-pharmacological interventions for musculoskeletal stiffness. However, the comparative efficacy of these interventions for modulating tissue stiffness remains inconclusive.PMID:37668241 | DOI:10.1080/09638288.2023.2252744

Validation of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) core set for post-acute musculoskeletal conditions in a primary care physiotherapy setting from the perspective of patients using focus groups
CONCLUSIONS: Entities in the ICF core set for post-acute musculoskeletal conditions are relevant to patients seen in primary care physical therapy units. However, there are areas of functioning related to community health care not covered by this ICF-based tool.IMPLICATIONS OF REHABILITATIONAn ICF-based framework is feasible for the assessment of musculoskeletal conditions.Post-acute musculoskeletal ICF core set was confirmed in patient focus groups.Additional ICF categories emerged for a primary care physical therapy setting.Community features of functioning could be addressed by a tailored ICF core set.PMID:37667886 | DO...

An investigation of upper extremity function, sleep quality, and functional independence in patients with poststroke shoulder pain: a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: PSSP impairs upper extremity functions, which play an important role in activities of daily living, and reduces functional independence. These results suggest that it is important to evaluate shoulder pain and examine the factors affecting pain in the rehabilitation of patients with stroke.PMID:37651602 | DOI:10.1080/09593985.2023.2253313
