Comparison of outcomes of direct-acting oral anticoagulants vs. vitamin K antagonists in patients with bioprosthetic heart valves or valve repair: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Findings suggest that the use DOACs in patients with AF with bioprosthetic valve replacement or repair is comparatively better than vitamin K antagonists in reducing the risk of bleeding and thrombo-embolic events. Direct oral anticoagulation in atrial fibrillation and heart valve surgery-a meta-analysis and systematic review
CONCLUSION: Cumulative data analysis reveals that DOAC may provide an effective and safe alternative to VKA in patients with AF after surgically implanted bioprosthetic heart valves or repair with AF.
