Types of intraparenchymal hematoma as a predictor after revascularization in patients with anterior circulation acute ischemic stroke
CONCLUSION: Parenchymal hematoma was a predictor of poor outcomes. In particular, the absence of the anterior communicating artery on pre procedural time-of-flight magnetic resonance angiography is a potential risk factor for parenchymal hematoma after revascularization for anterior circulation acute ischemic stroke.PMID:33880207 | PMC:PMC8053447 | DOI:10.25259/SNI_792_2020

Stroke Lateralization in Large Hemisphere Infarctions: Characteristics, Stroke-Related Complications, and Outcomes
Conclusions: Right-sided patients with LHI had higher frequency of atrial fibrillation and cardio-embolism than the left-sided patients. Right hemisphere involvement was independently associated with increased risk of MBE and composite of cardiovascular events during hospitalization, whereas stroke lateralization was not an independent predictor of mortality and unfavorable outcome in patients with LHI.

Left Atrial Septal Pouch—Is it Really a New Risk Factor for Ischemic Stroke?: Subanalysis of the ASSAM Study
Purpose: The atrial septal pouch is an anatomic variant of the interatrial septum caused by incomplete fusion of the septum primum and secundum. It is debatable whether coexistence of septal pouch and atrial fibrillation (AF) increases the risk of stroke. Thus, the aim of the study was to evaluate the coexistence of left atrial septal pouch (LASP) and AF in patients with a history of stroke in comparison with those without an earlier history of stroke. Materials and Methods: We analyzed 145 patients with AF (68 in the study group, 77 in the control group). The study group consisted of patients with previous stro...

High Prevalence of Atrial Fibrillation in a Lithuanian Stroke Patient Cohort
Conclusions: In our single-center prospective observational study in Lithuania, we found that 40.8% of AIS patients had a concomitant AF, were at a higher risk for an LVO, and had a significantly poorer self-perceived HRQoL at 90 days. Despite the high AF prevalence, diagnostic tools for subclinical AF were greatly underutilized.PMID:35744063 | DOI:10.3390/medicina58060800
