Antithrombotic therapy for atrial fibrillation and coronary artery disease in older patients
Conclusions Among older patients with AF and CAD, overall warfarin use was low. Patients ≥80 years old at highest stroke risk received warfarin in similar proportions to the overall cohort. Further investigation into optimizing antithrombotic strategies in this population is warranted.

Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing in Aortic Stenosis.
CONCLUSIONS: In this group of patients, where clinical assessment is difficult and conventional exercise testing is regarded as less useful, CPX showed high feasibility and reproducibility. CPX therefore has potential as a useful tool for serial monitoring. In general, the stroke volume increased during exercise, including in patients with severe aortic stenosis or decreased resting stroke volume. CPX gives information on hemodynamics and the physiologic components that determine decreased pVO2. Acute myocardial infarction related to coronary artery embolism: A systematic cardiac and cerebral magnetic resonance imaging study
CONCLUSION: MI-related to CAE was associated with infarctions of average size but multiple locations. Systematic brain MRI revealed that 33% of cases were associated with a stroke, which was generally asymptomatic. Further studies are required to better characterize the pathophysiology, clinical course and prognostic value of CAE. Atrial fibrillation in acute coronary syndrome: patient characteristics and appropriate utilisation of anti-thrombotic therapy in New Zealand (ANZACS-QI 39).
CONCLUSION: In New Zealand, one in seven patients presenting with ACS have AF, a third being new-onset AF. Antithrombotic management is inconsistent, with underutilisation of anticoagulants, particularly the DAT regimen, and is inadequately informed by stroke and bleeding risk scores.
