Clinical impact of hormone replacement therapy on lone atrial fibrillation in postmenopausal women: a nationwide cohort study
Individuals with atrial fibrillation (AF), especially women, have an increased risk of stroke and death. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is widely used to control symptoms of menopause and treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. However, the association between HRT use and AF risk has been scarcely explored. Thus, we aimed to investigate the association between various types of HRT and lone AF in a national cohort of Korean menopausal women.

Stroke in Women
This article reviews sex differences in stroke risk and presentation, with a particular emphasis on the unique risk factors women experience throughout the lifespan. RECENT FINDINGS Although prior studies suggested women have worse outcomes after stroke, it is now clear that age, prestroke functional status, and comorbidities explain many of the differences between men and women in stroke severity, functional outcomes, and mortality. Cryptogenic stroke in a young patient with heart disease and kidney failure.
CONCLUSIONS: Fabry's disease must be suspected in young males with heart disease, stroke or peripheral neuropathy, skin lesions, kidney failure and a history of cases in the family. Female sex as a risk factor for thromboembolism and death in patients with incident atrial fibrillation. The prospective Danish Diet, Cancer and Health study.
