Increased Serum EphrinA1 Is Associated With Parenchymal Hematoma (PH) After Ischemic Stroke
Conclusion Higher serum EphrinA1 is independently associated with higher risk of PH after ischemic stroke. Future studies with larger sa mple size are needed to validate our findings and elucidate the potential role of EphrinA1 in PH.

How do cardiovascular risk factors correlate with post-stroke cognitive function: Directly or indirectly through stroke severity?
ConclusionThis is the first Chinese study exploring the moderated and mediating associations between cardiovascular risk factors, stroke severity, and cognitive function after stroke. Age, female sex, and atrial fibrillation were directly associated with lower cognition after stroke. The combination of hypertension might have a positive effect on cognition.

Analysis of prognostic risk factors for ischaemic stroke in China: A multicentre retrospective clinical study-a national survey in China
CONCLUSIONS: Our study identified sex differences in stroke-related disability, recurrence, and death and attempted to explain the causes of these differences. Our study clearly showed that a large proportion of this difference can be attributed to age, socioeconomic factors, lifestyle habits and medical history, which are confounded by sex, rather than sex per se.PMID:35362370 | DOI:10.2174/1567202619666220331160024

Prevalence and Risk Factors of High-Risk Population for Stroke: A Population-Based Cross-Sectional Survey in Southwestern China
With the aging of the population and the change of lifestyle in China, the prevalence and risk factors of the high-risk population for stroke may change. However, few studies performed community-based high-risk stroke population surveys in China. Hence, we performed this multicenter, cross-sectional, and community-based survey in Sichuan of southwestern China, according to the China National Stroke Screening Survey (CNSSS) program in 2015. The residents aged ≥ 40 years volunteered to participate in the face-to-face survey in 8 communities in Sichuan. The 8 communities were selected using the cluster randomization method....

A J-Shaped Curve Relationship Between Baseline Fasting Blood Glucose and 1-Year Stroke Recurrence in Non-diabetic Patients With Acute Cerebral Infarction in Xi'an, China: A Multicenter Observational Cohort Study
ConclusionLower and higher baseline FBG levels may lead to an increased risk of 1-year stroke recurrence in non-diabetic patients with ACI as shown by a J-shaped curve with a nadir value of 4.6 mmol/L.

Management of carotid artery stenosis
Acta Neurol Taiwan. 2021 Dec 15;30(4):123-127.ABSTRACTThe incidence of both ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke is more common in Asians compared to Caucasian (1). It is found there is a decreased incidence of ischemic stroke in Northern America but increased incidence in Africa, Mongolia and southeast Asia. In the epidemiological study of carotid artery stenosis (CAS), Framingham study showed the prevalence of significant extracranial CAS was 7% in women and 9% in men (2). Among all strokes in Caucasian population, 20 to 30% were due to extracranial CAS and 5 to 10% due to intracranial atherosclerosis (3, 4). Northern Manhatt...
