Application Areas of Intermittent Pneumatic Compression in the Prevention of Deep Vein Thrombosis During Dixon Surgery: A Randomized, Controlled Trial
Clin Ther. 2023 Aug 23:S0149-2918(23)00298-9. doi: 10.1016/j.clinthera.2023.07.022. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPURPOSE: Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is common in the lithotomy position after laparoscopic surgery. Intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) plays an important role in DVT prevention. However, few studies have compared the different compression areas of IPC application. It was hypothesized that the location of the compression sleeves could have an impact on the effects of thromboprophylaxis.METHODS: In this randomized, controlled trial performed from August 2020 to March 2021, 164 patients scheduled to undergo ...

Application of a New Approach for Laparoscopic Resection of Bismuth IIIa Hilar Cholangiocarcinoma
Conclusion: Lap-Larmorh reduces the difficulty of serving the vessels at the second and third hepatic hilum by splitting the right and left livers early intraoperatively. The new approach is more suitable for the narrow space of laparoscopic surgery and reflects the no-touch principle of oncology.PMID:37603304 | DOI:10.1089/lap.2023.0085

Esophagogastric varix caused by extrahepatic portal vein obstruction with essential thrombocythemia: A case report
J Nippon Med Sch. 2023 Aug 8. doi: 10.1272/jnms.JNMS.2024_91-601. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTExtrahepatic portal vein obstruction (EHPVO) is a very rare disease-causing portal hypertension. Myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN) including essential thrombocythemia (ET) is reported as a risk factor for EHPVO due to underlying persistent thrombophilia.A Japanese woman in her 40s was referred to our hospital with a one-month history of gastric variceal bleeding due to EHPVO. Laboratory investigation demonstrated thrombocytosis despite portal hypertension. She had a mutation of clonal marker JAK2V617F with EHPVO, which prompted ...
