Cervical carotid occlusion in acute ischemic stroke: Should we give tPA?
CONCLUSION: Emergent revascularization with acute cICA stenting carries advantages, but its safety is precluded by tPA administration. E-114 Rescue suction mechanical thrombectomy of medium-small vessel occlusion in a pediatric patient presented with acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionEndovascular aspiration mechanical thrombectomy of MSVO is feasible in pediatric patients presenting with AIS and associated with good functional outcome. Additionally, when acute ongoing neurological deficit is present and CTA is inconclusive, a digital subtraction angiography is deemed needed to identify MSVO as the yields of CTA diminishes significantly beyond LVO. Impedance-based sensors discriminate among different types of blood thrombi with very high specificity and sensitivity
Conclusions Combining EIS measurements with machine learning provides a highly effective approach for discriminating among different thrombus types and liquid blood. These findings raise the possibility of developing a probe-like device (eg, a neurovascular guidewire) integrating an impedance-based sensor. This sensor, placed in the distal part of the smart device, would allow the characterization of the probed thrombus on contact. The information could help physicians identify optimal thrombectomy strategies to improve outcomes for stroke patients.

ConclusionsIn AIS due to tandem occlusion, the periprocedural antithrombotic regimen of eCAS seems to have a marginal effect on good functional outcome. ConclusionsThe evaluation of SCFAs in the serum at the time of stroke provides novel insight into the potential role of SCFAs during stroke in human patients. Age remains a significant factor to SCFA concentrations in stroke patients. The length of time following stroke also contributes to the levels of SCFAs. Previous studies have shown that increased levels of SCFAs is associated with decreased severity of stroke, however our data did not detect any such effect. ConclusionWe have developed a novel tissue banking protocol to preserve microbiota from arterial thrombi retrieved from ischemic stroke patients. Reappraisal of primary balloon angioplasty without stenting for patients with symptomatic middle cerebral artery stenosis.
We describe our experience with primary balloon angioplasty without stenting for symptomatic middle cerebral artery (MCA) stenosis. All patients who underwent balloon angioplasty without stenting for MCA stenosis between 1996 and 2010 were retrospectively reviewed. We evaluated technical success rates, degrees of stenosis, and stroke or death within 30 days. ConclusionWith the recent over-whelming evidence demonstrating the effectiveness endovascular therapy in acute ischemic stroke, the expansion of stroke therapy requires that a variety of techniques be available to the operators. Permanent implantation of the Solitaire stent achieves adequate distal flow and good clinical outcomes in the setting of AIS.
