Effect of prior stroke on long ‐term outcomes of percutaneous coronary interventions in Chinese patients: A large single‐center study
ConclusionsPrior stroke history was the only predictor of risk of post ‐PCI stroke. The noncerebrovascular adverse events were not increased after adjusted analyses of baseline characteristics and propensity analyses.

Long-Term Risk of Ischemic Stroke After the Cox-Maze III Procedure for Atrial Fibrillation
Conclusions This multicenter study showed a low incidence of perioperative and long-term postoperative ischemic stroke/TIA after CM-III. Although general risk of ischemic stroke/TIA was reduced, patients with CHA2DS2-VASc score 2 or greater had a higher risk compared with score 0 or 1. Complete left atrial appendage excision may be an important reason for the low ischemic stroke rate.

Stroke of a cardiac myxoma origin
Conclusion: Cardiac myxoma stroke is rare. Often does it affect young females. For an improved diagnostic accuracy, magnetic resonance imaging of the brain and echocardiography are imperative for young stroke patients in identifying the cerebral infarct and determining the stroke of a cardiac origin. Immediate thrombolytic therapy may completely resolve the cerebral stroke and improve the neurologic function of the patients. An early surgical resection of cardiac myxoma is recommended in patients with not large territory cerebral infarct. Ischemic stroke and intracranial hemorrhage in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for COVID-19: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Ischemic stroke and ICH were common under the double "hit" of COVID-19 and ECMO. The prevalence of ICH was significantly higher in COVID-19 patients supported with ECMO than non-COVID-19 patients requiring ECMO. Individualized anticoagulation regimens may be a good choice to balance thrombosis and bleeding. Early Results With the LARIAT Device for Left Atrial Appendage Exclusion in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation at High Risk for Stroke and Anticoagulation
Conclusions: These results show that percutaneous LAA exclusion can be achieved successfully with an acceptable rate of periprocedural and short‐term complications. Further studies and longer follow‐up are needed to determine whether LAA exclusion lowers the long‐term risk of thromboembolic events in patients with AF and contraindications to anticoagulation. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Left atrial appendage occlusion for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation: multicentre experience with the AMPLATZER Cardiac Plug.
Conclusions: In this multicentre study, LAAO with the ACP showed high procedural success and a favourable outcome for the prevention of AF-related thromboembolism. A comparison between stand-alone left atrial appendage occlusion and resection as a method of preventing cardiogenic thromboembolic stroke
ConclusionThere were no significant differences between LAAO and LAAR in terms of the feasibility and the effectiveness as a method for stroke prophylaxis only to selected patients for both procedures, although further studies including the comparison between groups with the same backgrounds to confirm the authentic differences in the clinical results between these procedures.

Mitral valve repair and bioprosthetic replacement without postoperative anticoagulation does not increase the risk of stroke or mortality ADULT CARDIAC
CONCLUSIONS Despite current guidelines recommending postoperative anticoagulation following MVRR or bioprosthetic replacement, the avoidance of warfarin does not increase perioperative complications and has no impact on intermediate survival. Accordingly, a prospective randomized study to adjudicate the role of extended warfarin thromboprophylaxis in mitral valve surgery is warranted.

AbstractThe left atrial appendage (LAA) has been identified as a site of thrombus formation in the heart and as a source of embolism in patients with atrial fibrillation, leading to stroke. Studies suggest that LAA closure may reduce the risk for stroke and the need for anticoagulation; conversely, incomplete closure can increase the stroke risk almost 12 ‐fold.
