High prevalence of abdominal aortic aneurysm in older men with cerebrovascular disease: Evaluation of a local screening program
This report evaluates the results of a decade's operation of a local screening program for AAA in this selected neurologic population.MethodsMen aged ≥60 years and admitted to the neurology ward of a community-based hospital in the Netherlands from 2006 to 2017 with a diagnosis of TIA or stroke were selected for screening. The diameter of the abdominal aorta was assessed by abdominal ultrasonography. Hypertensive response to exercise in adult patients with repaired aortic coarctation
Conclusions A hypertensive response to exercise was present in nearly half of the patients in this large, prospective cohort of adults with repaired CoA. Risk factors for increased peak exercise SBP were male sex, absence of a bicuspid aortic valve and elevated resting SBP. Increased peak exercise SBP independently predicted hypertension at follow-up. These results support close follow-up of patients with a hypertensive response to exercise to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment of future hypertension.

Total endovascular repair of the aortic arch: initial experience in the Netherlands
ConclusionsTotal endovascular aortic arch repair using the Relay Branch device is technically feasible and effective in excluding aortic arch pathology. The observed stroke rate in the initial experience, however, was considerable. Although appealing, this new lesser-invasive technique should be carefully introduced, and its progress thoroughly evaluated.

Canagliflozin Inhibits Human Endothelial Cell Proliferation and Tube Formation
In conclusion, the present study identified canagliflozin as a potent inhibitor of human EC proliferation. The anti-proliferative action of canagliflozin is observed in ECs isolated from both the venous and arterial circulation, and is partly due to the blockade of cyclin A expression. In addition, this study found that canagliflozin inhibits tube formation in cultured ECs and mouse aortic rings. Notably, these actions are specific for canagliflozin and not seen with other SGLT2 inhibitors. Effects of Normothermic Machine Perfusion Conditions on Mesenchymal Stromal Cells
In this study the effect of NMP perfusion fluid on survival, metabolism and function of thawed cryopreserved human (h)MSC and porcine (p)MSC in suspension conditions was studied. Suspension conditions reduced the viability of pMSC by 40% in both perfusion fluid and culture medium. Viability of hMSC was reduced by suspension conditions by 15% in perfusion fluid, whilst no differences were found in survival in culture medium.
