Levamisole-Induced Leukoencephalopathy in Russia: Analysis of 30 Cases
CONCLUSION: The differential diagnosis remains difficult for suspected cases of LEV-induced MIL that could lead to delayed therapy initiation, and consequently incomplete recovery. Growing evidence suggests that a single administration of levamisole even in low doses might potentially lead to severe neurological deficit or death. Therefore, changes in medication management policies are required in order to prevent uncontrolled use of levamisole.PMID:34951579 | DOI:10.2174/1574886317666211224121517

A Review of the Evidence and Current Applications of Portable Translingual Neurostimulation Technology
ConclusionsTLNS is a promising treatment modality for various chronic neurological conditions that are often refractory to conventional therapy. However, TLNS technology remains largely investigational as high-quality RCTs are still required to elucidate efficacy, optimal dosages, necessary treatment durations, and treatment durability. Further research to develop an appropriate control group is needed for scientifically valid comparisons of TLNS.

Non-communicable diseases in the southwest of Iran: profile and baseline data from the Shahrekord PERSIAN Cohort Study
CONCLUSIONS: The SCS provides a platform for epidemiological studies that will be useful to better control NCDs in the southwest of Iran and to foster research collaboration. The SCS will be an essential resource for identifying NCD risk factors in this region and designing relevant public health interventions.PMID:34903205 | DOI:10.1186/s12889-021-12326-y

Analysing the effect of robotic gait on lower extremity muscles and classification by using deep learning
In this study, EMG signals in GMA, GME, ILP, BF, VM, MG, TA muscles were recorded simultaneously with a different electrode placement during robotic gait for the first time in literature and then a location that prevents a phase shift was presented. The classification performance has also been increased by removing 26 different attribute parameters like time, frequency and statistics from the signals instead of gait studies with a maximum of 12-16 traits extraction. The extracted features were classified with the approaches Multilayer Perceptron Neural Networks (MLP), Support Vector Machines (SVM), K-Nearest Neighbourhood ...

Multi-disciplinary Approach for Drug and Gene Delivery Systems to the Brain
AAPS PharmSciTech. 2021 Dec 3;23(1):11. doi: 10.1208/s12249-021-02144-1.ABSTRACTDrug delivery into the brain has for long been a huge challenge as the blood-brain barrier (BBB) offers great resistance to entry of foreign substances (with drugs inclusive) into the brain. This barrier in healthy individuals is protective to the brain, disallowing noxious substances present in the blood to get to the brain while allowing for the exchange of small molecules into the brain by diffusion. However, BBB is disrupted under certain disease conditions, such as cerebrovascular diseases including acute ischemic stroke and intracerebral ...
