Knowledge, attitude, and practice in relation to stroke: A community-based study from Kolkata, West Bengal, India
Conclusions: Persons from both SAF and non-SAF groups are aware about stroke but possess lesser knowledge about the many symptoms of stroke and risk factors, indicating the necessity of enhancement of existence knowledge on symptoms for better diagnosis and of risk factors for better prevention.

Identifying Novel Biomarkers of Cerebral Ischemia through the Use of Mass Spectroscopy (S15.004)
CONCLUSIONS: Mass spectroscopy-based proteomics is a potential new tool to help identify biomarkers for cerebral ischemia. Ultimately, a panel of proteins may serve as a marker for cerebral ischemia or TIA. We have identified three candidate proteins as possible indicators for cerebral ischemia. Impact of Air Pollution and Seasonal Haze on Neurological Conditions.
CONCLUSION: Air pollution is associated with increased risk of certain common neurological disorders. More specific studies are needed to investigate the impact of seasonal haze on neurological conditions in Southeast Asia.

Cerebral infarction and cortical subarachnoid hemorrhage preceded vascular contraction in reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome patient with hidden breast cancer
We report a case of RCVS with hidden breast cancer in which ischemic stroke and cortical subarachnoid hemorrhage were observed earlier than vasoconstriction, and there were positive autoantibodies.

Depression and quality of life after cerebral venous sinus thrombosis
Conclusion: This is the first Indian study demonstrating depression in patients with CVST and use of SA-SIP to assess quality of life in them. Occurrence of depression in CVST is as high as in arterial strokes.

The spectrum of Neuro-COVID: A study of a comprehensively investigated large cohort from India
Conclusion: Stroke and encephalopathy constitute the most common neurological manifestations. The absence of preceding COVID-19 symptoms in nearly half the cases is striking. Poor outcome was seen in nearly 50% despite early recognition and management.

Pesticides and Parkinson's: UCLA researchers uncover further proof of a link
For several years, neurologists at UCLA have been building a case that a link exists between pesticides and Parkinson's disease. To date, paraquat, maneb and ziram — common chemicals sprayed in California's Central Valley and elsewhere — have been tied to increases in the disease, not only among farmworkers but in individuals who simply lived or worked near fields and likely inhaled drifting particles.

Researchers ID more pesticides linked to Parkinson's, gene that increases risk
This report provides evidence for the relevance of ALDH inhibition in Parkinson's disease pathogenesis, identifies pesticides that should be avoided to reduce the risk of developing Parkinson's disease and suggests that therapies modulating ALDH enzyme activity or otherwise eliminating toxic aldehydes should be developed and tested to potentially reduce Parkinson's disease occurrence or slow its progression, particularly for patients exposed to pesticides," the study states.
