Anti-nociceptive and Anti-inflammatory Activities of Visnagin in Different Nociceptive and Inflammatory Mice Models
This study intends to explore the potential to treat pain by inhibiting nociception and inflammation with a safer, non-addictive, effective, and low-cost alternative agent from a natural source, visnagin. In vivo studies have been conducted using male Swiss albino mice as models for this research. Nociception was induced using different chemical and thermal stimuli such as acetic acid, glutamate, capsaicin, and formalin. To check for the anti-inflammatory properties, carrageenan was used to induce inflammation and the activity was assayed using peritoneal cavity leukocyte infiltration analysis and pro-inflammatory cytokine...

Vitexin inhibits pain and itch behavior via modulating TRPV4 activity in mice
This study aimed to explore the antinociceptive and anti-pruritic effects of MJS and whether its effects are mediated via the TRPV4 pathway. Mice were treated with MJS (7.5 mg/kg) 0.5 h prior to the initiation of the pain or itch modeling process. The results showed that MJS suppressed pain-like behavior in hot plate, thermal infiltration, glacial acetic acid twisting, and formalin tests. Administration of MJS decreased the pruritus response induced by histamine, C48/80, chloroquine and BAM8-22 within 30 min. MJS reduced scratching bouts and lessened the wiping reaction of mice under TRPV4 activation by GSK101 (10 µg/5 μ...

Chemical pancreatectomy in non-human primates ablates the acini and ducts and enhances beta-cell function
Res Sq. 2023 Mar 8:rs.3.rs-2618133. doi: 10.21203/rs.3.rs-2618133/v1. Preprint.ABSTRACTChronic pancreatitis is a debilitating disease affecting millions worldwide. These patients suffer from bouts of severe pain that are minimally relieved by pain medications and may necessitate major surgeries with high morbidity and mortality. Previously, we demonstrated that "chemical pancreatectomy," a pancreatic intraductal infusion of dilute acetic acid solution, ablated the exocrine pancreas while preserving the endocrine pancreas. Notably, chemical pancreatectomy resolved chronic inflammation, alleviated allodynia in the cerulein p...

Bladder-colon chronic cross-sensitization involves neuro-glial pathways in male mice
CONCLUSION: We describe a new model of cross-organ visceral sensitization between the bladder and the colon in mice. Intravesical injections of acetic acid induced a long-lasting colorectal hypersensitivity to distension, mediated by neuroglial interactions, MAPK-p38 phosphorylation and the NK1 receptor.PMID:36632316 | PMC:PMC9827584 | DOI:10.3748/wjg.v28.i48.6935
